90′ +5
IT'S ALL OVER! Big big win for Chelsea and Ancelotti here. United look aggrieved at fulltime, with their players surrounding the referee at the end. But John Terry's goal was enough for Chelsea today. Pulsating match, hope you enjoyed the match. Have a great evening
90′ +4
Chelsea desparately seeking to keep the ball in the United half.
90′ +4
Substitution
Nicolas Anelka
Alex
90′ +3
Chelsea bring on Alex for Anelka and then that corner fails to beat the first man but deflects off Owen for a goalkick.
90′ +2
Chelsea are inviting pressure here-never a good thing. Rooney finds O'Shea in space. His cross is deflected by Ballack-and Ivanovic can only head behind for another corner.
90′ +1
Chelsea clear the first header, but United come back. Rooney's chipped ball in finds Valencia whose cross is only cleared behind by Ashley Cole. The resulting corner is header over by Evans.
90′
Neat feet by Obertan almost tricks him past Ivanovic but he puts it behind for a corner.
89′
Great work by Essien and Ballack wins the ball back for Chelsea, they switch it to Lampard whose low cross is cut out by Van der Sar.
89′
Yellow Card Antonio Valencia
88′
Chelsea are just seeking to take the sting out of this match with some possession football.
87′
Very poor challenge by Valencia. High and late on Lampard as United sought to break on the counter. Booking for the Ecuadorian.
85′
Naughty from Carvalho, who must be treading a disciplinary tightrope. He concedes a freekick for a nasty looking challenge on Rooney which Chelsea manage to get clear.
85′
Substitution
Anderson
Michael Owen
85′
Substitution
Ryan Giggs
Gabriel Obertan
84′
Changes from United. Giggs is off, as is Anderson who has looked frustrated, for Obertan and Owen.
84′
Chelsea fail to clear a Giggs corner, it runs all the way to Valencia in the area. He takes a touch but gets his shot all wrong as he drags it well well wide of Cech's goal.
83′
Substitution
Didier Drogba
Salomon Kalou
83′
Kalou on and Drogba off
82′
Yellow Card Jonny Evans
82′
Yellow Card Ricardo Carvalho
82′
For their part in that little incident both Evans and Carvalho were booked.
80′
Now things have really kicked off. Carvalho naughtily kicks Rooney, but then Evans appears to clean out the Chelsea defender off the ball. Cue much posturing from both teams as neither appears happy with the other.
79′
Neat play from Chelsea. Drogba lays the ball off to Joe Cole who plays in Anelka whose low cross is cut out by Van der Sar.
77′
Things are REALLY hotting up here. Anderson pushes Essien, Fletcher pushes Joe Cole. Essien has a word or two-atmosphere has jumped up a notch after the goal.
77′
Yellow Card Wayne Rooney
76′
Rooney got booked after that, presumably for the decision to award the freekick. Though there might be some disgruntlement as Drogba appeared offside-though he wasn't directly involved in the goal.
76′
Goal John Terry
75′
GOAL!!! GOAL for Chelsea!! John Terry- rises to flick on a Lampard freekick which leaves Van der Sar with no chance. BIG BIG GOAL!!
74′
Yellow Card Didier Drogba
74′
Drogba's back on, though he looks thoroughly disgruntled.
70′
Rooney wins a freekick in a decent position. They opt to roll for Valencia to shoot but his effort is blocked.
69′
Chelsea are just struggling to keep possession at the moment. United have bossed the last five minutes, which has been spent predominantly in the Chelsea half.
67′
Almost a moment of absolute brilliance by that man Rooney. Receiving a pass from Giggs, 25 yards from goal he feints away from Carvalho and curls an effort which is bound for the top corner before Cech palms it away.
65′
Great move by United. Rooney's tenacity enables him to ride a couple of challenges, he then finds Valencia who plays it back to the England man, and his low effort is narrowly wide of Cech's goal.
64′
This time its Chelsea's time to enjoy some possession. Lampard and Cole interchange neatly, but Cole's deflected cross is plucked from the air by Van der Sar.
63′
Clash of heads between Giggs and Ivanovic means we have a slight delay to proceedings as both players receive treatment.
63′
Substitution
Deco
Joe Cole
62′
First change for Chelsea and it's not a surprise. The disappointing Deco is off and Joe Cole is on.
61′
Resurgent spell from United. They enjoy some decent possession in the Chelsea half, which culminates in a Giggs header which is over Cech's bar.
60′
Anelka teases Evra and dinks a cross in, Brown flicks it clear and Lampard sends in a low drive which is saved by Van der Sar.
59′
Chelsea are still trying to work the ball through the centre. Lampard finds Drogba who spins sharply but his low effort is easily saved by Van der Sar.
58′
Yellow Card Branislav Ivanovic
58′
Fletcher advances on the Chelsea penalty area, but his low shoot is wonderfully blocked by Carvalho.
56′
Ballack whips a fine low ball in, which Anelka dummies hoping to find an onrushing player behind him. Sadly for the French striker none of his teammates had followed his chain of thought.
54′
Moment of real class from Rooney, wonderful backheel to Evra, but his driven cross is caught by Cech.
53′
Ivanovic wins a freekick in a decent area. Drogba takes, but fires straight at the United wall. Ancelotti cutting a frustrated figure on the touchline.
52′
Chelsea are once again being frustrated by United's tight central midfield. They are having very little joy-and have little width with Cole pressed back and Ivanovic not offering much threat.
51′
Freekick from Chelsea is cleared by Evans.
50′
Moment of warning for United. Didier Drogba shrugs off O'Shea and fires in a first time effort which is wide of goal.
48′
United struggle to clear an Ivanovic cross, but Chelsea are unable to fashion some space as United close ranks and force Chelsea to put the ball behind for a goalkick.
47′
Superb awareness from Rooney. He picks up the ball facing the two Chelsea centrebacks. He turns sharply and finds Giggs in space. His cross is just a little too long for Anderson-great move though.
46′
Fletcher fires over from 25 yards out.
45′
Chelsea get us underway for the second half.
Well they're just getting prepared for the second half, which could be a massive 45 minutes in the context of the title race. Sir Alex has really got his tactics spot on-Fletcher, Carrick and Anderson are working hard as a unit to really frustrate Chelsea. The onus is really on Ancelotti's team to somehow find a way to combat it.
45′ +1
Half time. Well, its been very even during that first half. Neither side really dominating and chances have been scarce. See you in fifteen.
45′
Drogba gets free in the area, but he has a go from a near impossible angle and only fires the ball into the crowd. Optimistic to say the least.
43′
Disjointed passage of play, neither side able to keep the ball for more than 3 or 4 passes.
42′
Neat move by United. Anderson rolls the ball to Valencia who tees up Carrick who can only fire over the bar.
41′
First time Chelsea get a man advantage in attack and they fluff their chance. Anelka makes great ground down the right, his cross narrowly evades Lampard and then O'Shea's brilliant block on Drogba forces the Ivorian to miscontrol and the chance is gone.
40′
Fortunately for Chelsea, Terry's back on.
38′
Worrying signs for Chelsea, as John Terry is prone on the turf after clashing with Ashley Cole accidentally. Chelsea don't put the ball out and then when United attack the referee stops the match. Sir Alex is not amused.
37′
Deco perhaps sums up his contribution to this match by giving the ball away sloppily with a poor header. As the man charged with dictating Chelsea from the tip of the diamond, you'd expect more from him.
35′
Nearly the curse of the commentator for Chelsea. Rooney finds space down the left-flank. With Anderson bursting through the middle, and with Valencia as an option on the edge of the box, he chooses to shoot rather than pass and it is blocked. Expected a bit better from the England man.
34′
Manchester United's service to Rooney is starting to get sloppy. Chelsea have really begun to take a hold of this match-United defending firmly though.
31′
First save of real note. Anelka's left-footed effort is palmed away by Van der Sar-pretty comfortable save though.
29′
Possession is proving scarce-the midfield battle is dominating this match. Essien and Anderson putting in some real shifts in midfield.
27′
Couple of speculative efforts from both teams. Anelka fires a rasping drive from 30 yards which is smartly stopped by Van der Sar. Then Giggs is almost set through, but his attempted first time lob over Cech-with the outside of his left foot-flies high over the crossbar.
26′
United fans aren't happy as Drogba falls to the turf following a Brown challenge. In fairness to the Ivorian, Brown's challenge was from behind. Lampard fires the freekick straight at the wall.
25′
Michael Essien bulldozes his way past two United challenges, he rolls in Drogba who fouls Wes Brown-though it looked a tad harsh.
23′
The game's starting to become stretched-both side's starting to attack with a quicker tempo. Though Lampard wastes a good chance to really threaten by sending a freekick harmlessly behind United's goal with teammates well placed.
21′
Excellent defensive work by John Terry-as you'd expect. Isolated one-on-one with Wayne Rooney he refuses to commit himself, and forces the striker away from goal. Great work.
18′
Valencia fires a dipping effort over Cech's bar from 30 yards out. Shame he didn't spot O'Shea tearing into acres of space down the right flank.
17′
Ivanovic cross is headed wide by Drogba, though he was too far out to really trouble Van der Sar.
16′
Pretty even match so far, lots of possession for both teams but little attacking threat to speak of so far.
14′
Drogba's cross is headed clear by Jonny Evans with Ashley Cole lurking behind him.
12′
Penalty shout from Valencia. Ashley Cole gives the ball away to the winger, he advances on Terry. He tries to commit the Chelsea man in the area, but Terry manages to block him off-albeit clumsily.
11′
Cracking atmosphere here, really seems charged as you would naturally expect.
10′
First glimpse of Wayne Rooney. Receives the ball in the Chelsea penalty area, turns sharply but his effort is blocked by Carvalho.
9′
Seems United are just pushing Carrick slightly deeper, probably to try and stymie Deco's influence.
8′
Giggs threatens to escape Ivanovic's attentions, but Essien covers excellently to help out his fullback.
7′
Ooooh, close call but excellent offside line by Chelsea. Anderson plays Rooney through but Cole steps up just in time to catch him offside.
4′
Chelsea looking bright. Deco attempts to slip Anelka through, but his pass is cut out by Brown. Drogba then plays Ivanovic in down the right, his cross is cut out but only lands at the right back, whose low shot is easily saved by Van der Sar.
2′
Looks like United are hoping to use Valencia as a real outlet today. Couple of early crossfield balls find the Ecuadorian-but Chelsea defend comfortably.
Wayne Rooney and Anderson kick us off
The team's are just coming out of the tunnel-Ancelotti and Sir Alex seem to be chatting amicably. The players are lined up to form a guard of honour for members of the armed forces.
Looks as if Chelsea will be lining up in the traditional "Ancelotti" way, 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield-Deco at the tip. Meanwhile Manchester United are lining up with 4-5-1 with Rooney up front on his own. Be interesting to see who gets up to support him-Giggs or Anderson probably.
Well here's todays team news. Chelsea line up Cech, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Essien, Ballack, Deco, Lampard, Anelka and Drogba. While Manchester United line up Van der Sar, O'Shea, Brown, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs and the newest dad in the Premier League, Wayne Rooney.
