A spirited fightback from Arsenal who looked out of the game at half time. Individual errors cost Wenger's men their goals and the hosts struggled to contain Hamsik for large portions of match before he was substituted off. From open play, Arsenal have a tendency to move inside and narrow their attack, which limits their options against a sturdy defence. Today, they could only find a way past Napoli via set pieces, and this, most likely, is something Wenger will address before their season opener against Aston Villa on August 17.

90′ +2
The referee blows the whistle for full time.

90′
Akpom gets the ball on the left and draws a foul after being hounded by two Napoli players. Walcott's delivery is towards Mertesacker but the ball glides out of play.

88′
Substitution Lukas Podolski Chuba Akpom

87′
Goal Laurent Koscielny
Arsenal are level and it's Koscielny with the goal. Arteta's delivery from a free kick on the right flank is excellent, Mertesacker rises and heads towards goal but his effort is saved by Reina. Koscielny reacts the quickest and runs onto the loose ball to head into the net.

85′
Substitution Valon Behrami Blerim Dzemaili

84′
Oxlade-Chamberlain has a speculative shot from 20 yards out but Reina easily gets down to save.

82′
Giroud rises too early to meet the cross from Arteta and Napoli are able to clear. The ball is played back to the right flank but Mertesacker fouls Armero.

81′
Dossena rattles into Sagna and picks up a yellow card. Arsenal have a free kick on the right wing and Arteta stands over the ball.

80′
Yellow Card Andrea Dossena

78′
Giroud pounces on a fortunate deflection and is played clear His shot crashes into the side netting but the flag is up for offside.

74′
Despite perking up the home crowd, Arsenal are on the back foot as Napoli get possession and settle the match down. The Italian side are in no hurry to attack now.

71′
Goal Olivier Giroud
Arsenal have a lifeline through Giroud. The corner is played in and the striker attempts an overhead kick which is going well wide before taking a deflection off Sagna.

70′
Giroud goes close with an attempt from an acute angle but his low shot is saved by Reina and the ball goes out for a corner.

69′
Arsenal have the chance to break through Walcott but the winger, instead of running down the right flank, opts to pass inside but the ball to Rosicky is cut out and the move breaks down.

65′
Substitution Lorenzo Insigne Andrea Dossena

65′
Substitution Marek Hamsik Dries Mertens

65′

65′
Hamsik comes off for Napoli most likely to the relief of the Arsenal players, who have struggled to contain the Slovakian all afternoon.

62′
Substitution Miguel Angel Britos Raúl Albiol

62′
Another half chance wasted by Podolski. Ramsey plays the German through but he is pushed slightly wide and his hesitant cross is blocked low down.

61′
Another good piece of defending from Koscielny as he muscles Higuain off the ball on Napoli;s right side. The crowd give the Frenchman a big cheer for that.

60′
Giroud is played through but takes the ball wide of goal and wins a free kick on Arsenal's left flank.

58′
Napoli are still sharper to the ball than Arsenal, while the composure from Hamsik is making life difficult for Wenger's men to get the ball back.

56′
Substitution Carl Jenkinson Bacary Sagna

56′
Substitution Serge Gnabry Theo Walcott

55′
Insigne on Napoli's left plays a neat cross into Behrami but the midfielder can't get enough power on his header and Fabianski catches easily.

53′
The ball breaks back to Mertesacker on the edge of the area, he plays in Podolski but the striker lashes wildly over from a narrow angle.

52′
Giroud goes for power and the ball clatters low into the wall.

51′
Podolski wins a free kick after a driving run is halted by Behrami. Giroud places the ball down in a central position around 25 yards out.

48′
Wilshere goes close for Arsenal. The midfielder plays a pass into Ramsey, gets the ball back and edges into space but his shot is dragged wide of the goal.

46′
Substitution José Callejón Christian Maggio

46′
Substitution Goran Pandev Gonzalo Higuaín

46′
And Napoli get us underway for the second half. Former Arsenal target Higuain has come on and is lightly booed by the home fans with his first touch.

A disjointed half from Arsenal who have been caught out twice by Napoli's shift style of play, while their attacks have been too narrow to trouble Benitez's men.

45′
And the half-time whistle is blown.

45′
Good defending from Koscielny as Callejon is played through. The former Real Madrid striker isn't short of pace but the Arsenal defender matches him stride for stride and is able to clear.

44′
Another chance spurned for Arsenal as Podolski is given the ball inside the box, but instead of shooting with his left, he cuts the ball back out to Giroud, who lofts his effort over.

42′
Podolski has a shot blocked inside the area and after he combines with Gibbs the German flashes a low fall across the face of the Napoli goal. Giroud is about three paces behind the cross.

40′
Gnarby gets inside the box but is muscled off the ball by Hamsik, who appears to be everywhere this half. The crowd don't like the challenge but it was a fair one.

38′
Arsenal look nervous at the back, too. Mertesacker hesitates in playing it back to Fabianski and when he does, the Pole slices his clearance under little pressure.

36′
Arsenal get the ball in Napoli's net but it is ruled out for offside. Wilshere picks the ball up outside the Napoli box and clips a ball into Ramsey's path. The Welshman slams the ball low past Reina but the effort doesn't count.

34′
Arsenal on the attack as Podolski finds space on the left in Napoli's area but he drags his effort narrowly wide of Reina's goal.

31′
Arsenal nearly go three behind as Napoli go close again. Hamsik plays the ball neatly around Rosicky in the middle of the pitch and plays the ball to Armero, who races down the left flank and crosses to Callejon. The Spaniard effort is low but is blocked and goes out of play.

28′
Goal Goran Pandev
Arsenal are sinking. Napoli go two goals ahead as Pandev strikes. Hamsik, once again, is given far too much room in the middle as he shifts the ball into the path of Pandev. Fabianski races from his goal beyond the penalty spot but has no hope of reaching the ball. Pandev rounds the Arsenal goalkeeper and lifts the ball smartly around the covering Mertesacker and into the net.

26′
Now Napoli enjoy a long spell of play and they are looking very fluid. Hamsik is at the heart of everything and his swift choice of pass is looking a very dangerous outlet for Benitez's side.

24′
Arsenal are enjoying their fair share of possession but most of their attacks are too central and Napoli have enough players who are compact to deal with the situation.

21′
Despite it only being a friendly, Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is gesticulating wildly on the touchline about his side's penalty decision.

20′
And now Napoli have a much stronger penalty claim turned down. Pandev is bundled over by Jenkinson as the ball is played into the box. The referee waves away the Napoli protests to the cheers of the Arsenal crowd.

18′
Missed Penalty Lukas Podolski

18′
Penalty save Pepe Reina

18′
And Reina saves from Podolski. The German goes to his right but there's not enough power and the on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper gets down quickly enough to push the ball away.

17′
Penalty to Arsenal. Gibbs attempts to control a chest-height ball which is loose in the box and crashes into Behrami, who can't really get out of the way of the Arsenal full-back. Harsh decision from referee Kevin Friend.

14′
Reina scuffs his clearance and is caught out of position. The ball breaks to Gnarby who is about 40 yards and but his speculative chip drifts narrowly over.

12′
Podolski is in possession on the edge of the area but is crowded out by the Napoli defence. Hamsik picks the ball up and turns neatly to Callejon.

10′
Arsenal have got back in possession after their early setback and Gnarby plays a ball into the box from the right which is gathered easily by Reina.

7′
Goal Lorenzo Insigne
Disaster for Arsenal as Napoli take the lead through Insigne. Inler plays a long ball into the box and Insigne, one on one with Jenkinson, is able to control and finish neatly past Fabianski. The Arsenal full-back should have done much better.

6′
This is positive from Arsenal. They've had plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges and they are putting Napoli under pressure at every opportunity.

3′
Great chance for Gnabry to put Arsenal ahead. The ball ricochets off Podolski in the box and falls to the midfielder, but his left-footed effort doesn't curl enough and glides past Reina's post.

2′
Hamsik picks up the ball in the middle and has the chance to burst clear towards goal but Jenkinson covers well and is able to clear.

1′
Arsenal get us going and are wearing yellow, despite playing at home.

The teams have just walked out of the tunnel and are now shaking hands in the Champions League-style line in front of the crowd.

The Vietnamese 'Running Man' is also at the Emirates Stadium today. For those of you who don't know, Vu Xuan Tien was filmed by Olivier Giroud running alongside the team bus for miles in Hanoi before being allowed on the team bus to meet the Arsenal players.
