Live Commentary

  • That's all we have time for from the Olympiastadion, as the curtain falls on another excellent Bundesliga season. Dortmund finish in second place, with Hertha finishing narrowly in the bottom half of the table after a brilliant start to the campaign. I've been Simon Harrison and I hope to see you again next time.
  • Dortmund continue their excellent form, which they will hope to take into the DFB Pokal final next week. Hummels and Reus left the field with knocks, with Skjelbred and Langkamp doing the same for the hosts, in a game of plenty of knocks. The scoreline flatters Klopp's men, but it was a deserved victory nonetheless.
  • FULL TIME! No stoppage time, with the referee calling time on Dortmund's 4-0 away victory against Hertha. Lewandowski netted twice, securing the Poland international the accolade of top goalscorer in the Bundesliga. Mkhitaryan and Jojic added the others, in a game of two double-salvos.
  • 89'
As we approach stoppage time, Lewandowski desperately tries to chase the goal which would give him his hat-trick. Kirch feeds Grosskreutz down the left hand side, but the utility man is robbed of the ball as he attempts to predictably cut inside his marker.
  • 87'
The atmosphere continues to remain fierce despite the result, with this match being a sell-out at the Olympiastadion. Schulz attempts to break down the left flank, but Piszczek tracks his man all of the way, before robbing him of possession well at the byeline.
  • 85'
    Yellow Card Sandro Wagner
  • 85'
Five minutes to go, with the result really a formality now. The referee brandishes a yellow card at Wagner, as the physical striker makes a poor, late challenge on Kirch. Very silly, really, given that it's the last game of the league season.
  • 84'
Kraft continues to complain to the referee after conceding his fourth, as he believes he was impeded by Jojic. Hertha throw a free-kick delivery into the box, but Ramos' glancing header bounces two yards wide of the post, with Weidenfeller having his angles covered anyway.
  • 82'
    Assist Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  • 82'
    Goal Henrikh Mkhitaryan
GOOOOOOOOOOAL! MKHITARYAN MAKES IT FOUR! Goals are coming in pairs this afternoon! Lewandowski is fed through on goal, but Kraft denies the Polish international well, before Aubameyang fires a low drive back into the penalty area to allow Mkhitaryan to slide the loose ball home!
  • 81'
    Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOOOOOAL! WHAT A FREE-KICK! LEWANDOWSKI GRABS HIS SECOND! It's a gorgeous free-kick from 20 yards, curling over the jumping wall and into the top left corner! Kraft has no change, that is simply unstoppable!
  • 78'
Lewandowski has started to cut a lonely figure up top for Dortmund, with the absence of Reus allowing for Hertha to outnumber the Polish forward easily. The introduction of Ramos has acted as a real catalyst for the hosts, though Friedrich's return to play has stopped the momentary Hertha domination.
  • 76'
Weidenfeller is nearly caught out underneath his own crossbar! N'Djeng tries his luck from range yet again, with the Dortmund keeper seemingly unaware of his position. Not wanting to take any risks, he beats it away for yet another corner. Hertha are really getting on top.
  • 75'
Given that Klopp has already made his three substitutions, the Dortmund physio staff will be trying to get Friedrich back on the field as soon as possible. It's only a flesh wound, but the experienced defender can't return to the fray until it's patched up or bandaged.
  • 73'
Dortmund really are the walking wounded at the moment, with play stopped once again for Friedrich to get some treatment. A stray stud from Wagner caught the central defender on the knee, drawing blood. The away side are down to ten men for the moment.
  • 72'
Less than 20 minutes to go and Klopp will be praying that nobody else picks up any knocks before the end of this game. Hertha have looked much better since the intensity of Ramos has been added into the mix, with the hosts seeing much more possession.
  • 70'
    SubstitutionMarco Reus Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  • 70'
Reus is now being substituted, after Schulz brought down the Germany international in full flight. Aubameyang is the man to replace him, with the man he's replacing limping heavily off the field of play. Not what anybody connected to Dortmund wanted to see this afternoon.
  • 69'
    Yellow Card Nico Schulz
  • 68'
RAMOS Important intervention from Schmelzer! Van den Bergh whips in a dangerous cross, but Schmelzer is on hand to head behind for a corner. N'Djeng throws it into the area, with the Colombian forward forcing Weidenfeller into a smart save!
  • 67'
Scratch that, Sokratis has changed his boots and wants to come back onto the field. It appears that the defender's signal was that he needed to change his footwear, given that an opponent's studs had ripped the laces clean off.
  • 66'
Sokratis has gone down and signals to the bench that he needs to come off. He's only been on the field for a quarter of an hour, but the injury concerns keep on piling up for Die Schwarzgelben. The Greek international leaves the field with one boot off.
  • 64'
    SubstitutionLevan Kobiashvili A. Ramos
  • 64'
Levan Kobiashvili is the man who is replaced for the home side, who ends his career as a player with Hertha today. He gets a standing ovation, but while he makes his way to the bench, Weidenfeller is forced into a smart save to deny N'Djeng. The Germany international keeper tips a long-range effort over the bar well.
  • 62'
Great challenge from Sokratis! The Greek defender gets across well to prevent Wagner from having a shot on goal from a tight angle, with Weidenfeller continuing to have very little to do. Adrian Ramos readies himself on the bench.
  • 61'
Great defending from Piszczek! The right-back covers around at the back post well, planting his defensive header firmly back in the direction of the halfway line. The second half continues to simmer, with Reus the only man who has had any real chances. This time, the Germany international is threaded in behind but is called offside.
  • 59'
As we approach the hour mark, Klopp might become tempted to wrap his players in cotton wool ahead of the DFB Pokal final against Bayern next week. Several injuries have plagued this game already, with Die Schwarzgelben not wanting to add to their long list of absentees.
  • 58'
    SubstitutionSebastian Langkamp Peter Niemeyer
  • 57'
Another injury problem for the home side, with Langkamp now needing to be replaced for Hertha. It appears that an arduous season is taking its toll on those involved today, with Niemeyer the man to come into the hosts' ranks.
  • 56'
    SubstitutionMats Hummels Sokratis Papastathopoulos
  • 55'
Sokratis is getting ready on the sidelines for Dortmund, with Hummels looking to have picked up a knock - possibly a precautionary move from Die Schwarzgelben. Grosskreutz tries his luck from range on the left hand side, but Kraft is happy to watch the ball float over his crossbar.
  • 54'
Van den Bergh is found in an offside position, after Mukhtar opts to delay his through ball slightly. The Hertha left-back tells the youngster to play the pass quicker next time, the hosts certainly aren't out of this game yet, he wants to turn things around.
  • 52'
Kirch, Dortmund's only change at the break, clips a wonderful ball forward for Reus, but the Germany forward fails to capitalise on a pocket of space yet again. He's been uncharacteristically wasteful so far this afternoon, with Pekarik now robbing Reus of the ball on the edge of the area.
  • 51'
The second half has started with an impressive intensity, with Hertha not wanting to send their supporters home without seeing a bit of desire and fight. Van den Bergh picks out Wagner in the penalty box beautifully, but the target man's touch lets him down.
  • 49'
Nearly a second for Jojic! The Serbian midfielder presses Kraft, before the Hertha goalkeeper sends his attempted clearance straight at the Dortmund man! It ricochets off his midriff before bouncing narrowly wide, sparing Kraft's blushes.
  • 47'
REUS! Another big chance for the Germany international! He's put through on goal by an intelligent flick by Lewandowski, but whistles a powerful effort narrowly over the crossbar from 18 yards! Hertha then break, with Schulz getting the better of Piszczek, but Schmelzer is on hand to clear the full-back's eventual delivery.
  • 46'
    SubstitutionNuri Sahin Oliver Kirch
  • 46'
We are back underway in the second half! As it stands, Dortmund are ending the season in style, with Lewandowski currently sitting top of the Bundesliga goalscoring charts. The Poland international would like a couple more to ensure that his final league game in a Die Schwarzgelben shirt is an unforgettable one.
  • That said, the hosts deserve to be behind, given that Wagner has been a fairly lonely figure up top. Adrian Ramos is on the bench should Hertha wish to call upon him, with young Mukhtar the only other real threat for Luhukay's men. Rejoin us in ten minutes for all of the second half action.
  • Lewandowski makes a late claim for the Bundesliga top scorer award, netting in his final game in a Dortmund shirt. Two goals in three minutes have added a nice gloss on the half-time scoreline for the visitors, who lacked any kind of final ball or killer instinct for long periods.
  • HALF TIME! The referee calls time on a very good opening 45 minutes for Dortmund, who lead 2-0 at the Olympiastadion! The home side haven't tested Weidenfeller at all, but saw a Wagner header cleared off the line by Sahin. Lewandowski and Jojic have provided the goals, with Klopp's men firmly in the driving seat.
  • 44'
    Assist Kevin Großkreutz
  • 44'
    Goal Miloš Jojić
GOOOOOAL! IT'S TWO IN THREE MINUTES! JOJIC SCORES! The Serbian cuts inside Brooks beautifully, putting the ball onto his left foot, before curling a wonderful effort inside the far post! It nestles in the back of the net and Dortmund are two goals to the good!
  • 43'
REUS! The visitors certainly have their tails up now! Die Schwarzgelben break forward with Hummels picking out his teammate with a long pass, before Kraft makes a good save to deny the Germany international! Reus gets a second bite of the cherry, but fires his next attempt narrowly over the crossbar!
  • 41'
    Assist Mats Hummels
  • 41'
    Goal Robert Lewandowski
GOOOOOAL! LEWANDOWSKI OPENS THE SCORING FOR THE AWAY SIDE! The former Lech Poznan forward receives the ball on the edge of the box, turns smartly before sliding a finish beyond the wrong-footed Kraft! Great through ball from Hummels!
  • 40'
SCHMELZER! What a chance for the left-back! He races in at the back post, before being picked out excellently. The angle is tight, but Schmelzer bizarrely tries to cross the ball instead of firing at goal from close-range with Kraft at his mercy! Poor decision!
  • 38'
REUS! Mkhitaryan switches the play nicely, finding Piszczek in plenty of space on the right hand side, before the Poland international cuts a pass back into the path of the onrushing Reus. He attempts a nutmeg to bypass his man and break into the box, but it doesn't come off. Hertha counter-attack, but Van den Bergh's back post cross is too heavy and goes out for a throw-in.
  • 36'
Great run from Mukhtar! The Germany U19 international races down the left hand side, showing a real turn of pace, before powering a low cross towards the edge of the six yard box. Wagner is lurking, but Friedrich is on hand to clear at the front post.
  • 34'
SubstitutionPer Ciljan Skjelbred Johannes van den Bergh
  • 34'
Following the substitution for the home side, it appears that Pekarik has gone over to right-back, with Van den Bergh slotting in at his preferred left-back position. Luhukay is out on the edge of his technical area barking out instructions, but his men have been second best thus far.
  • 33'
Skjelbred goes down in a heap and it looks to be his hamstring that has gone. Van den Bergh prepares himself on the sideline, that should be the Norwegian's last contribution of the Bundesliga season.
  • 31'
Around a quarter of an hour remains before the half-time break, with Dortmund presumably looking to go a goal to the good. Their play merits an opener, but the lack of a killer ball in the final third is a real worry for Klopp's men.
  • 29'
Dortmund are happy to hold onto possession, as the intensity of the game lessens somewhat. After a fairly gung-ho start to proceedings, there's a bit more stability in the contest, with the away side continuing to call the shots and control.
  • 27'
Brooks goes down in the centre of the field, with the American defender appearing to take an accidental forearm in the face from Lewandowski. Play is stopped, but the Hertha man is back to his feet quickly without any treatment. Adrian Ramos comes out for a bit of a warm-up on the sidelines.
  • 26'
Mkhitaryan looks to float a ball over Hertha's defensive line in search of Reus, but the Germany international's run is slightly too early, meaning that he's caught offside. Reus is trying to play on the shoulder of the last man, but it isn't working at the moment.
  • 24'
Good defending from Sahin! Mukhtar receives possession to feet, before looking to use a clever backheel flick to scurry his way to the byeline. The Turkish international reads it and tracks his man all of the way, before timing a sliding challenge to perfection.
  • 23'
Reus whips another free-kick delivery in from deep, but it's far too close to Kraft, who collects with ease. The Hertha goalkeeper has still only had to make one routine save from Mkhitaryan, otherwise it's been easy for the German goalkeeper.
  • 21'
Dortmund want a penalty, but the referee waves it away! Mkhitaryan looks to break into the box with Skjelbred draped over his shoulder, with the former Shakhtar man choosing to go down under pressure from the Norway international. There wasn't a lot in it, but Mkhitaryan certainly was impeded slightly.
  • 19'
Good covering from Pekarik! The Slovenian defender comes across well to ensure that Marco Reus can't gallivant into the Hertha box, outmuscling the Germany international and shepherding the ball out of play for a goal kick.
  • 18'
Mukhtar whips in a dangerous corner delivery from the left hand side, but Weidenfeller is off his line smartly to palm the cross clear of the back post. The home side enjoy their first real extended period of pressure in Dortmund's half, but can't create any kind of opening.
  • 17'
Jojic is penalised for a foul on Kobiashvili, who is moving a little gingerly after his jostle with the Serbian midfielder. As we approach the 20 minutes mark, Dortmund are still the more dominant side, but Hertha's pressing is occasionally causing some nervy moments for the visiting defence.
  • 15'
Brilliant feet from Lewandowski! The Bayern-bound striker dances around two midfielders, before being brought to the ground by a stray leg. Dortmund take the set piece quickly, but Reus' quick delivery into the penalty area is easily cleared.
  • 14'
Dortmund win a free-kick 35 yards out from goal, which Reus floats into the penalty area. Langkamp makes a headed clearance, before the second ball back into the danger area by Die Schwarzgelben runs out of play for a goal kick. Disappointing.
  • 12'
Plenty of intensity in this contest, surprising given the little that is at stake. Klopp's men have the advantage, given their excellent recent form, with Hertha looking fairly toothless. Having Ramos out of their ranks is about as detrimental as it gets for the hosts.
  • 10'
Dortmund are having the lion's share of possession and are looking to get from back to front quickly, but Hertha's congested midfield is doing the job thus far. The away side haven't quite found their cutting edge or killer pass yet.
  • 8'
GROSSKREUTZ! Schmelzer robs Skjelbred of the ball deep in Hertha's half, before the left-back cuts a smart pass inside to the advancing Dortmund utility man. He tries to fire a devilish delivery across the face of goal, but his cross is blocked well.
  • 7'
Mkhitaryan chases a poorly-weighted through ball, as Sahin looks to be positive with his distribution from deep, but Kraft is quick off his line to collect. Dortmund are certainly sticking with their vertical mentality this afternoon, but Kraft hasn't been truly tested.
  • 5'
OFF THE LINE! Dortmund have found themselves in plenty of advanced areas in the opening five minutes, but Lewandowski can't quite carve out an opening for himself. Hertha win a corner, however, which N'Djeng flights in. Wagner meets it with his head, but the striker's attempt is blocked on the line by Sahin.
  • 3'
MKHITARYAN! The midfielder finds himself on the edge of the box in a pocket of space, with a loose ball falling to the Armenia international, and he chooses to strike it first time. Kraft saves comfortably, the placement was good but the power on the effort was tame.
  • 2'
Slow start to proceedings, with Weidenfeller happy to hold onto the ball for a fair while inside his own area. Reus tries an early backheel flick to set Lewandowski through on goal, but Langkamp matches the run of the Polish striker and forces him wide.
  • 1'
We are underway in the first half! There's not a great deal to play for, but both clubs will want to send their supporters away for the summer happy, thus three points and a good performance are the order of the day. With plenty of players involved with their respective national teams in this summer's World Cup, certain individuals may need to impress this afternoon too.
  • Ten minutes until kick-off, so be sure to stick around for all of the action at Olympiastadion. The home side need a point to ensure that Hannover and Bremen can't leapfrog them, while Dortmund are merely attempting to extend a good run of form late in the season.
  • Dortmund substitutes: Hofmann, Aubameyang, Langerak, Kirch, Schieber, Sokratis, Durm.
  • Dortmund starting line-up: Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Friedrich, Hummels, Schmelzer; Sahin, Jojic; Reus, Mkhitaryan, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski.
  • Hertha substitutes: Janker, Ben-Hatira, Allagui, Niemeyer, Ramos, Jarstein, Van den Bergh.
  • Hertha starting line-up: Kraft; Pekarik, Langkamp, Brooks, Schulz; Hosogai, Kobiashvili; Skjelbred, Mukhtar, N'Djeng; Wagner.
  • TEAM NEWS: Manuel Friedrich partners Mats Hummels in the centre of defence for Die Schwarzgelben, with Milos Jojic part of the midfield two ahead of them. Kevin Grosskreutz is deployed on the left hand side, with Marco Reus out on the right. Robert Lewandowski starts up top in his final game for Dortmund. Oliver Kirch is fit enough to make the bench.
  • TEAM NEWS: Adrian Ramos is on the bench due to apparently suffering from a cold, but it may be a case of Hertha or Dortmund not wanting the hosts' top goalscorer to play against his future outfit. Schulz is preferred to Van den Bergh at left-back, with young Mukhtar given yet another opportunity to impress in behind Wagner. Ronny misses out after picking up an ankle injury in Hertha's recent 2-0 defeat to Werder Bremen.
  • I'm Simon Harrison and I will be leading you through all of the action, in what will be Robert Lewandowski's last game with Dortmund. Both sides will be losing their star strikers in the proximate transfer window, meaning that reconstruction and evolution needs to be achieved by both Klopp and Luhukay.
  • Hello and welcome to one of the final Bundesliga games of the season, as Borussia Dortmund take on Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion. The home side will want to try and take some points from today's contest, to ensure that they remain in the top half of the table on their return to the German top flight. Although star striker Adrian Ramos is dropped to the bench, possibly due to the Colombian forward moving to Die Schwarzgelben this summer, both outfits have named strong line-ups.
