Player Ratings: West Ham 2-0 Norwich City

A James Collins header and deflected Mohamed Diame strike sealed a third consecutive win for the Hammers, though goalkeeper Adrian was the star of the show

Adrián San Miguel Del Castillo Top of the Match

Made good saves to deny Hooper and Tettey and an excellent one to prevent Snodgrass breaking the deadlock. Easy to see why he's keeping Jaaskelainen on the bench in this form.

    George McCartney

Reliable enough at left-back without really offering any attacking threat, and one suspects Redmond might have troubled him more if he had received better service.

  • James Tomkins

    James Tomkins

Kept Hooper reasonably quiet and executed one excellent sliding block in the area to prevent Johnson having a free shot at goal from 10 yards.

  • James Collins

    James Collins

Predictably dominant in the air and solid if unimaginative on the ball. Rose well to head in the winning goal.

    Guy Demel

Watching him is a surreal experience. Overhit crosses and misplaced passes suggest minimal technical ability, but there are enough muscular bursts forward down the right to keep everyone - including himself - guessing. Had no real positive impact though.

  • Kevin Nolan

    2.50

    Kevin Nolan

Displayed none of the goal threat which has carried his team over the past two matches and wasted several good moments of possession in the final third.

  • Matthew Jarvis

    Matthew Jarvis

Did not run at his full-back with his usual conviction and pulled off no telling crosses.

  • Matthew Taylor

    Matthew Taylor

Put in a manful shift in the centre of midfield. Even if his team-mates had made interesting runs he never gave the impression of being capable of finding them.

  • Mark Noble

    3.00

    Mark Noble

West Ham's best midfielder, though that could be considered damning with faint praise. Tenacious and energetic as ever but never looked like troubling the Norwich defence.

Stewart Downing Flop of the Match

It's performances like this which make the £20 million Liverpool shelled out to sign him from Aston Villa in July 2011 seem even more incomprehensible. One dangerous cross aside he showed no purpose or imagination on the ball, giving his full-back nothing to worry about and his team-mates nothing to work with.

  • Carlton Cole

    Carlton Cole

Led the line as well as he could in the first half, trying to win aerial battles and bring his team-mates into play, only for his efforts to be undermined by a pathetic lack of quality midfield support. Unlucky to be hauled off at the break.

    Mohamed Diame

Replaced Jarvis on the hour and, though he does not convince as a winger, he did put in the cross which won the game. Beat Ruddy with a deflected effort late on as Norwich threw everyone forward.

Replaced Cole at half-time but was nowhere near as effective as the man he replaced.

  • John Ruddy

    John Ruddy

Gathered many of Jarvis and Downing's wayward crosses with ease and made one superb stop to deny Diame in the second half. Beaten to the ball by Collins for the first and unlucky to be vanquished by a deflection for the second.

    Russell Martin

Offered little going forward but Jarvis and Downing gave him nothing to worry about defensively.

    S. Bassong

Troubled by Cole's physicality in the first half, he much more easily shackled Borriello after the break.

    Martin Olsson

He did two memorable things all evening. The first was to play dead on the floor for over a minute after literally no contact from Downing with his face. The second was to surge forward promisingly and spoon the ball out of play before fervently appealing for a corner.

Posed few big problems defensively but lost Collins in the build-up to the vital goal.

    Robert Snodgrass

Missed a huge chance in the first half when played through by Redmond and his set-pieces were not up to scratch.

    Nathan Redmond

Very lively early on and created the two best chances of the first half for Hooper and Snodgrass. Hard to tell how much he faded and how much he just became disillusioned with his team-mates.

  • Alexander Tettey

Missed two good chances, one in each half. Did not get great service but had enough to be more decisive than he was.
