That's it from me Harry Slavin. Thanks for joining me this evening for the action from Washington and be sure to stick around Goal for reaction and player ratings from USA's 4-3 victory. Until next time though, it's goodbye for now!
FULL-TIME USA 4-3 GERMANY. Fantastic entertainment from the RFK Stadium as USA celebrate their centenary in style with a famous victory over Germany. They were made to sweat for it towards the end. Klinsmann's side were more than worth their victory in the end though.
90' + 1'
Germany pile forward but the ball is booted into the German half once more. The ball comes back in one final time and Howard collects. That should be that.
Germany want a late penalty but their not going to get it. Instead Kruse smacks a shot straight into the chest of Howard after Muller goes down in the area. We are into two minutes of added on time.
JONES! Almost a fifth for the hosts as Jermaine Jones rises to meet a late corner. His header produces a fine save from ter Stegen though and Germany break.
Germany are looking very threatening now. Draxler threatens a shot on goal again before his cross causes havoc in the penalty area. A USA defender eventually wraps his foot around the ball and clears.
The USA aren't done yet either! ter Stegen is forced into another save from Dempsey and he has to be quick to pounce on the rebound before Eddie Johnson gets there.
Goal Julian Draxler
GOOAAALLL!!! GERMANY ARE BACK IN IT!!! There is life in this game yet! Sidney Sam cuts in from the left and hits a daisy-cutter toward Howard's goal. The Everton keeper can only parry the ball into the path of Julian Draxler and the Schalke winger taps in to bring Germany within a goal of an unlikely draw.
Klose won't be breaking Muller's record today. He comes off for the final ten minutes.
Assist Lukas Podolski
Goal Max Kruse
GOOOAAALLL!!! KRUSE NETS FOR GERMANY!!! Only a minute later Kruse does find the target and gives Howard no chance with a lovely driven effort.
Max Kruse turns on the edge of the area and sends a curled effort towards the far corner. It doesn't dip quite enough though and Howard sees the ball sail over his bar.
Germany, well behind, look to get themselves back in amongst the goals here. Draxler drives with the ball through the middle of the park but can't find that killer pass.
It is a sell out at the RFK Stadium in Washington and they're making plenty of noise. Who says Americans don't care for soccer!
There's a list as long as your arm of German internationals missing today. But that takes nothing away from the USA's performance this evening. They have been outstanding.
The free kick is delivered into the area but it isn't of the best quality we've seen tonight and Germany clear.
The home side continue in search of a fifth goal and they come up with a free kick in a handy position as Altidore is fouled by Westermann.
The USA really have celebrated their 100th anniversary in style with the goals they've put on display so far this evening. Apart from the own goal obviously. The less said about that the better.
Goal Clint Dempsey
GOOOAAALLL!!! DEMPSEY WITH A SENSATIONAL FOURTH!!! Dempsey feigns a shot with his right foot before shifting the ball onto his left and curling a top drawer effort beyond a hapless ter Stegen. Game over now, surely.
Joachim Low's side have it all to do once more after a starting the second half in a much stronger fashion.
Assist Jozy Altidore
Goal Clint Dempsey
GGOOOAAALLL!!!! USA RESTORE THEIR TWO GOAL CUSHION!!! More of the same from Germany's defence. Jose Altidore is in behind too easily as he takes down a long ball inside the penalty area. The visitors then fail to close down the striker as he clips in an inviting cross to Clint Dempsey who smacks home with aplomb.
Germany have another corner but the USA break from it, and quickly. Only a poor pass in the direction of Eddie Johnson slows down the counter attack and in the end they have to settle for a corner.
This is the kind of response Low would have been hoping for after such a poor opening half display. Can they complete the comeback and get themselves on level terms now?
First sniff for Miroslav Klose. He gets up well to meet Lukas Podolski's cross but his header is high and off target.
DaMarcus Beasley tries to respond immediately and his mazy run into the area presents him with the opportunity to shoot. Goalkeeper ter Stegen gets down easily enough though to keep the effort out.
Assist Max Kruse
Goal Heiko Westermann
GOOOAAAALLLL!!!! DaMarcus Beasley concedes a corner for the second time in the half and this time Germany make it count as substitute Heiko Westermann rises highest in the six-yard box to power a header home and half the deficit.
Clint Dempsey is down in a heap after pouncing on a woefully poor pass in the German midfield. No foul is given though after Howedes' clumsy challenge.
First signs of intent from Low's side as Julian Draxler's cross has to be nodded behind for a corner. Nothing comes of it but already that's an improvement on the opening forty-five from the visitors.
Germany do indeed kick off and they'll need to kick on too if they want to get back into this fixture after a dismal first half.
The sides are back out now after the break with some changes. Germany are ready to get us back up and running.
Joachim Low must be wondering if he switches things up at the break. His side' play has been pedestrian at best in the opening period. If Germany want to spoil this centenary party, they'll need to come out with more direction in this second half.
There's a mix of youth and experience in the Germany line up this evening but it isn't working for Joachim Low at the moment. Andre Schurrle and Julian Draxler are two of the hottest prospects in Germany at the moment but they've been pretty tepid this evening.
HALF-TIME USA 2-0 GERMANY. It may be a Germany reserve side but they've been made to look it by Jurgen Klinsmann's USA outfit. Altidore's volley gave them the perfect start and ter Stegen's own goal has given them a comfortable cushion at the half way stage.
Just a minute until the break. Joachim Low will have a few strong words for his defence. Germany's back line have been the masters of their own downfall.
Lukas Podolski gets in behind the USA defence for the first time. His cross doesn't pose any real problems though and Tim Howard's sheet stays clean.
Sven Bender tries to come forward for the Germans but he is tugged back by Beasley. That will be a free kick to Germany.
There's no sign yet of the USA letting Germany back into this match. It may not be the most recognisable of back fours but the defence in front of Tim Howard is standing firm.
Germany have yet to create a real opportunity to try and force themselves back into this. Gerd Muller's record must seem miles away for Klose at the moment.
The USA's centenary's celebration are going to plan so far. They'll be hoping things can get even better before the break.
One of the Dortmund players that has managed to drag himself out to America is Sven Bender. I think Germany could do with a couple more of his team mates at this rate.
Still Germany struggle to find a way through. Lukas Podolski gets on the ball for the first time but he can't find anyway past the home defence.
Of course the visitors are having to do without a number of their top players at the moment. All of Bayern Munich's German nationals are currently celebrating their treble success at the moment. The majority of Dortmund's international stars are also missing.
Germany need to find some kind of response now. They've got plenty of quality on that pitch. Can they find a way back into it?
The USA came into this as heavy favourites but that tag has very quickly been blown out of the water by an impressive display by Jurgen Klinsmann's side.
Another opportunity for the US and it's Altidore again. This time his shot flies wide as ter Stegen takes a tumble. USA on fire at the moment.
Almost three!! Altidore looks a different player after that well taken goal. He tees up Dempsey on this occasion but the Tottenham midfielder has his effort well saved by ter Stegen.
The USA certainly started the stronger but I don't think many of us expected this. It may be Germany's 'B' team but they're being outshone at the moment.
Own Goal Marc-Andre ter Stegen
GOOOAAALLL!!! A CALAMITOUS OWN GOAL!!! Expect to see this on a lot of DVDs next Christmas. Howedes's innocuous back pass is miscontrolled by Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the Gladbach keeper lets the ball run under his foot and into the empty net. An awful moment for the young goalkeeper.
Assist Graham Zusi
Goal Jozy Altidore
GOOAAALLL!!! WHAT A FINISH FROM ALTIDORE!! The USA create some space down the right and Graham Zusi sends across a glorious first time cross. Per Mertesacker is caught in no man's land as he leaves Jose Altidore all alone, the former Hull City man taking the opportunity and smashing a first time volley beyond ter Stegen.
What a chance for Mertesacker! The Arsenal central defender hounds DaMarcus Beasley in the US penalty area and wins back possession but can only side foot wide from six yards.
Miroslav Klose is in behind the USA back line for the first time but Omar Gonzalez shows some good strength to dispossess the Lazio striker and prevent a shooting opportunity.
A couple of starters in the USA line up will be pretty familiar with their German opponents. Both Fabian Johnson and Jermaine Jones in midfield ply their trade in the Bundesliga.
Alditore has already had his first effort on goal and now he's won his side a free kick in a wide position. Graham Zusi swings in the set piece and Altidore sends a glancing header just wide.
USA on the other hand were on the wrong end of the same scoreline as they went down 4-2 to a strong Belgium side. They have started the stronger team this evening though.
These two sides were both in international action at the end of last month. Germany ran out 4-2 victors against Ecuador where Lukas Podolski scored one of the quickest goals in international football, netting after just 9 seconds.
Early chance for the USA as Jose Altidore takes down the ball inside the area.Per Mertesacker gets across well to block the ball behind for an early corner.
Underway we go. Germany are in their green change kit as USA, in white, get the game up and running.
A moments silence for the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes at the RFK Stadium. The stadium is packed but the silence is held immaculately.
The national anthems are done and dusted. Some beautiful renditions there. We are moments away from kick off.
One player to look out for tonight is Miroslav Klose. The Lazio front man is just one goal away from equalling Gerd Muller's German record. He'll fancy his chances to draw level with one of the world's most prolific scorers tonight.
GERMANY: (4-2-3-1) ter Stegen; Jansen, Howedes, Mertesacker, L. Bedner; Reinartz, S. Bender; Schurrle, Draxler, Podolski; Klose.
UNITED STATES: (4-4-1-1) Howard; Evans, Gonzalez, Besler, Beasley; Zusi, Jones, Bradley, F. Johnson; Dempsey; Altidore.
We aren't far from kick-off so how about some team news from state side?
That's right. Today sees the USA celebrate their centenary against Germany at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in a friendly that is sure to bring goals galore. I'm Harry Slavin and I'll be here to take you through all the action.
100 years ago Woodrow Wilson was President of the USA and a little known game called 'soccer' established itself in America. Today, the USA mark the centenary of its football federation with a friendly against one of football's greatest powerhouses - Germany.
