Flapped at the ball a couple of times and parried Ronaldinho's penalty back into danger, but showed great bravery and reflexes to deny him on the rebound. Could do nothing to prevent Fred levelling the scores.
Neymar's preference to run at Johnson meant he went long periods without a direct opponent. Oscar got in behind him once, but this was an otherwise solid display on his 100th international appearance. Replaced by Baines at the interval.
Looked reasonably composed until Brazil got their equaliser, before contributing to England's five minutes of madness with a drilled pass back to Hart which eventually resulted in Fred clipping the crossbar.
A threat at both ends of the pitch, testing Cesar from set-pieces as well as gifting Brazil their equaliser just after half-time. It was an error which tainted an otherwise impressive performance, built on some fine last-ditch defending to deny Neymar.
Marshalled Neymar surprisingly well and got forward whenever he could, combining neatly with Walcott and the England midfield.
Ran the show in the first half, worrying Brazilian defenders constantly with his skilful driving runs and silky passing. Was unfortunate to concede a first-half penalty, but Hart bailed him out. Not as influential after the break.
Showed encouraging maturity and discipline in the holding role, linking neatly with Wilshere and delivering consistently dangerous set-pieces.
The least noticeable of England's first-half midfield triumvirate, he nevertheless did the simple things well before being replaced by Lampard at half-time.
Worked hard but looked out of place on the left, and wasted a golden opportunity to double England's lead after good work from Wilshere and Gerrard.
Took time to really warm to his task, but exposed Adriano's lack of defensive prowess after the break, surging past him and producing dangerous low crosses.
Not spectacular by any means, but led the line with an authority we're not used to seeing from him in an England shirt, and bagged himself a goal and an assist.
Replaced Cole at the break and got forward to deliver one or two of his trademark dangerous deliveries.
Came on for Walcott with just under 20 minutes left, and offered more of the same.
The man was born to score goals. His finish from Rooney's lay-off was one any striker would have been proud of: Instant, instinctive and devastatingly accurate.
Provided tactical discipline and hard graft when he came on for Welbeck on the hour.
Made a number of decent to very good saves, but was powerless to prevent either Rooney or Lampard finding a way through.
His decision-making was poor going forward, and defensively he was embarrassed by Walcott's pace and direct running on numerous occasions.
Not his rampaging self down the right. Shackled Welbeck with relative ease but contributed little to his side's attacks.
Solid and sensible at the heart of defence, breaking up attacks and not panicking when faced by one of England's pacey attackers. Not at fault for either of the goals.

As ever, showed flashes of genius, but has yet to really dominate a match against English opposition. He's got plenty of time to learn, though.

Was on his toes to mug Cahill and feed Fred for the equaliser, but his influence faded once Lampard restored England's lead.
Took his chance brilliantly seconds after coming on, but in the main his lack of rounded skills outside the penalty area harmed Brazil's approach play.
