Well then. I guess all that's left for me to do is wish you a fond farewell!

My thanks again to David Lynch for his stellar work earlier. I've been Matt Scott, and here's the Ewood Park chicken again, because, quite frankly, why the heck not!

22:57 BST

One last spot of news. Nick Barmby has announced he will appeal his sacking as Hull City manager. As Goal.com's resident Tiger, I'd love to see him stay, but I'm not sure how he possibly could, ah well.

CARROLL-WATCH: Big Andy did some chuntering of his own after the game to Sky Sports: "I think we’ve played quite well throughout the season and just haven’t got the results. But we need to put that right and just keep playing the way that we know we can, because we’ve got some brilliant players.

"I’ve been through a lot, I think, and coming out at the end of it with a few good performances has been great for me. I thought I was a little bit unlucky [not to scrore] but we’re happy with the win. We had four different goalscorers so we’re delighted with that."

22:45 BST

Some press-conference chuntering from Kenny Dalglish: "It was an excellent performance. It's been seen a few times here this season but the result hasn't been as pleasing as that. The result was thoroughly deserved and the supporters can go home for the last time this season with smiles on their faces.

"The way the fans stayed behind at the end, I'm not sure there's any other set of fans that would have stood there and shown an appreciation like that."

22:39 BST

A suggestion from : "It's obvious, he's attempting to do the Can-Can in that photo. He's getting it a bit wrong though bless him."

22:34 BST

CARROLL-WATCH: A photo has landed in our system of Big Andy. I'm not sure what he's attempting, can you tell me?

22:32 BST

You may have remembered news of Benoit 'Crabman' Assou-Ekotto claiming he wanted out of Tottenham in the summer from earlier. Well the Cameroonian has said France Football's report was a load of old horse muck.

22:30 BST

How about a big old round-up of everything we've seen tonight then? If you're in a recapping mood have a gander on the links below.

Some more twit-twoos...

: "carrol and suarez where in sync, just how a striking pair should be,beautiful to watch, glad carrol's finally getting his mojo back"

: "what a game: Lukaku looked like a clown at a kiddies party.. Di Matteo is one game away from being sacked." Sacked?! He's not been that bad!

: "Liverpool didn't have a good match it was Chelsea having a bad match."

22:21 BST

This was RDM on Saturday...

He's not looking that happy now.

22:20 BST

Roberto Di Matteo has done his post-match yabbering to the gathered press: "I thought Liverpool were the better side tonight. They were inspired and scored goals at the right time as well. They were better than us tonight and we need to give credit to them

"We've played with these players all season and they carried us this far. There was still a chance of fourth spot before tonight."

22:10 BST

Kenny Dalglish speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a fantastic performance. The two lads in the middle [Shelvey and Henderson] were fantastic. They've shown they're no muppets.

"I think the fans understand our struggles better than anyone else, they know we've tried our hardest and we've been very unlucky."

22:08 BST

Liverpool had 18 efforts on goal tonight, just the four on target. The result might have been a touch different with Petr Cech in goal and if that stat doesn't sum up the Reds' season, I don't know what does.

22:06 BST

Full-time musings from you on Twitter.

: "did Liverpool kno the FA cup was on saturday?"

: "It's quite obvious. Munich or bust for CFC. In all, I'm still terribly disappointed at the performance of our boys."

22:01 BST

CARROLL-WATCH: Big Andy would appear to be the only Liverpool player without a child with them. Too busy being a dominating striker to dominate the parenting world too.

21:56 BST

The Liverpool players (many with babies in arms) have stayed out on the pitch and will go round for a lap of honour. They've rounded the season off in style.

21:54 BST

Manchester United have had their kit for next season leaked, it has a rather surprising Gingham pattern.

Goal.com resident style guru Jon Birchall: "If you're going Gingham, you need a bit of white in there."

CARROLL-WATCH: Big Andy has been named Sky Sports' man of the match, after an impressive, domineering performance.

21:49 BST

Romelu Lukaku shows us what he's capable of, stuffing up a few step-overs before throwing Martin Skrtel to the floor. Liverpool work the ball up the other end with the slippery Suarez getting in again, firing just wide. Three minutes added time.
