Some of your thoughts on who will reach the Europa League final...

Rob Jones_NUFC: "aslong as Bibao make it, I don't care who else does, Bilbao said bye bye to United, it makes them instant hero's."

Femi 'Kay Adebiyi: "Atletico already got that one in the bag for sure! Bilbao to nick Sporting in the 2nd leg! So I'm goin' for Atletico-Bilbao

Beshoy Habib: "Atletico v Athletic"

It's time to have a look at our match reports from tonight's action.

Atletico Madrid 4-2 Valencia
Sporting 2-1 Athletic Bilbao

22:27 BST

Former England striker Gary Lineker bemused by delay in appointing Fabio Capello's successor.

Also, on Twitter, we're asking for your to predict which teams will make the Europa League final so let's hear your thoughts!

22:19 BST

Seems like Falcao is the runaway favourite for performance of the night then...

Athie "Performance of the night Falcao 2 goals and one of them was exquisite Wenger as a bday present pls sign him. RVP behind him wow."

ASAP Alejo: ‏"Falcao was once again the stand out player of the evening! One of the best in Europe at the moment!"

_Don_Dini: ‏"definitely has to be #Diego .. He waz impeccable and deservedly got a standing ovation from the fans."

22:12 BST

So as we calm down a bit after all that madness, let's have a look at some news elsewhere in the world.

In Turkey, Fenerbahce midfielder Emre has received a two-match ban for 'abusive language' used toward Trabzonspor's Didier Zokora.

On Twitter, we're asking who gave the best performance tonight in both games. Get involved!

Atletico Madrid
 4-2 Valencia
Sporting 2-1 Athletic Bilbao

An incredible night of NINE goals and two Europa League ties looking finely poised ahead of the second legs.

22:01 BST

Time for another goal? Of course.

Atletico Madrid 4-2 Valencia (Ricardo Costa)

This one is simply described as a "towering header" from a corner. Game on for the return leg it seems!

21:54 BST

Sporting are well on top in Portugal but you feel they might need another goal here to make things really interesting in Bilbao.

In Spain it feels like damage limitation for Valencia whilst the Atletico Madrid fans will be thinking about their travel plans for the final.

21:47 BST

Tonight's football has been an absolute pleasure, hasn't it?

Atletico Madrid 4-1 Valencia (Falcao)

The in-form striker collects the ball unmarked, moves inside and thumps straight into the top corner with his left. A rather emphatic way of putting the tie almost out of Valencia's reach you might say.

Sporting 2-1 Athletic Bilbao (Capel)

Diego Capel, who has been absolutely running the show this half, collects the ball at the edge of the box and drives lowhard and, well, brilliantly into the bottom right-hand corner. Outrageous strike.

21:41 BST

Another goal!

Sporting 1-1 Athletic Bilbao (Insua)

It's him! Diego Capel has been raining crosses in from the right for some time now and causing quite a lot of chaos. The latest is nodded away, but only as far as the edge of the box where former Liverpool full-back Emiliano Insua executes a perfect half-volleyed header which sneaks in at the far post.

21:36 BST

And in Spain, Diego Alves has made a fantastic save from a Diego free-kick. Go Diego...go.

21:33 BST

Goodness me. Ricky van Wolfswinkel has just missed a sitter for Sporting. He meets a brilliant cross from the right-hand side but somehow contrives to nod wide from six yards, if that.

21:30 BST

21:24 BST

No, seriously, it is actually raining goals.

Atletico 3-1 Valencia (Adrian)

Mehmet Topal gives the ball away needlessly and Adrian surges past Rami (who else?) to slot beyond Diego Alves. The hosts well in control now.

Meanwhile in Portugal, Amorebieta has just hit the post after driving from the edge of the box through a crowd. Athletic could well have had one foot in the final there.

21:19 BST

Atletico Madrid 2-1 Valencia (Miranda)

A Diego free-kick is floated over to Miranda who nods home from six yards. Apparently he wasn't being marked by....Rami.

Sporting 0-1 Athletic Bilbao (Aurtenetxe)

The man with the hardest name to spell in football finds himself on the end of a loose ball in the Sporting box to send it home left-footed. Crucial away goal for the Spaniards there.

DISCLAIMER: The dealing with disappointment bit is more about betting than say your cat dying or something.

21:10 BST

Some half-time predictions:

Dayo Joel: ‏"Sporting - Bilbao 2-0 Atletico - Valencia 3-0"
Joel Harper: "bilbao 1-0 sporting + athletico 3-1 valencia yep"

Danny Hart: " Sporting 2-4 Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid 1-1 Valencia."

Meanwhile, James Goldman has been at it again, saying: "I won't go into the Rami-fications of Atletico's failure to pick up the big defender from that corner then."

What is wrong with him?

Atletico Madrid 1-1 Valencia
 0-0 Athletic Bilbao
