HE'S DONE IT!

Cosmin Moţi, who is a centre-back by trade for Ludogorets, saves two Steaua Bucharest pens in the shootout to send his side through the the Champions League group stages for the first time! The goalkeeper Stoyanov was sent off a minute before the shootout, but Moti has written himself into UCL folklore - that's why we love football.

MORE SIGNINGS

Arsene Wenger: ""Look, I don't know yet. We try to look around but we want quality and we have quality.

"We have fortunately Walcott coming back soon. I believe Sanogo will have an impact this season. We have Podolski, we have Campbell who can play centre-forward.

"To find players who are better than the players we have would be very difficult now. We will consider. Just in England you cannot, every time you have a problem, always buy. If you have an injury afte rthe 1st of September, you have to live with it."

"The news is that he had surgery today, that surgery went well, but he will be out for - maybe to be competitive at the top, top level - end of December, beginning of January."

Arsenal 1-0 Besiktas

Wayne Veysey reports from the Emirates Stadium: "A relieved Emirates faithful file out of the stadium safe in the knowledge that their team will appear in the Champions League proper for a 17th consecutive year. Arsenal had to dig in to see off a wonderfully committed Besiktas, who threw the kitchen sink at the hosts in the final minutes following the sending-off of Debuchy. Wenger's team rode their luck at times but they also played with a fluency that has been lacking in some of their early season displays."

FT: Athletic Club 3-1 Napoli (Agg 4-2)

And that's it! Athletic Bilbao are into the Champions League group stages - Napoli are out!  A brilliant encounter, worthy of Europe's grandest stage. Hamsik handed Napoli the lead early in the second half but two from Aduriz and one from Ibai have sent the Basques through, and Rafa Benitez's side into the Europa League.
