We might have had to wait a while for the goals, but we got there in the end! Hope you enjoyed it and see you next time.
Moyes had more to say, this time on the performance tonight of goalscorer Ashley Young...
"I’ve spoke to Ashley (Young) and I’ve told him make sure you do everything right. I think he reacted well. As far as I’m concerned he’s showed he can come in and make an impact. When you're on the pitch and you get your opportunities you have to show it and I thought he did tonight."
David Moyes has given us an update on the injury that forced Wayne Rooney to miss tonight's game.
When asked if the forward had a chance of being fit for the game against West Ham on Saturday, Moyes replied: "Rooney has got a groin strain. He's got a chance."
"This was not the reaction Tottenham hoped for when Andre Villas-Boas was sacked on Monday. Tim Sherwood sent his side out in a new formation, playing two strikers and recalling Emmanuel Adebayor from the wilderness. The interim manager would have thought the night had gone to plan, with Spurs controlling the game and playing at a high tempo in the early stages. In the 67th minute, Adebayor appeared to write the script with a brilliant volley to smash in Jermain Defoe’s cross from the left via the underside of the bar.
"But Spurs completely lost control after Adebayor was replaced in the 78th minute, while West Ham’s substitutes made the perfect impact to turn the game around and win at White Hart Lane for the second time this season. Matt Jarvis fired in the equaliser 10 minutes from time before Modibo Maiga headed the winner five minutes from time, his first goal in more than a year greeted with delirium by the 5,000 visiting fans. It means the Hammers have booked a place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup while Sherwood may reflect that the task ahead is more challenging than he first thought."
The draw for the semi-final has been made! And I can now reveal it to you...
Manchester City v West Ham
Sunderland v Manchester United
First-leg ties are to be played during the week commencing January 6, 2014, while second-leg ties are to be played during the week commencing January 20, 2014.
Manchester City, Sunderland, Manchester United and West Ham are in the hat, just in case you'd forgotten.
"Full-time here and it will be Manchester United's name who will be in the hat for the semi-final draw in a few moments. Second half goals from Ashley Young and captain Patrice Evra were enough on a cold evening at the Britannia Stadium - in which the severe weather caused a halt to the game midway through the first half. Indeed, Young had the only clear cut chance in the first half firing into the side netting after good work from Anderson and Welbeck.
"Stoke looked a threat after the break from wide areas but it was United who got the breakthrough. Young's sharp one two with substitute Hernandez led to the winger meeting the ball outside the area and crashing it like a rocket past Sorensen. Ten minutes later the game was over. A great interchange down the left saw Patrice Evra find himself in the Stoke area before expertly curling a right-footed shot away from the Stoke keeper. David Moyes will be delighted with his side's ability to face a tough Stoke side who were well up for this game, but United, who many have written off thus far are now just one game away from another cup final."
"United have sealed it in style and its their captain who's got the goal. Patrice Evra curls home with his right foot past Sorensen from the left-hand side of the penalty area."
"What a sensational turnaround at White Hart Lane. Two substituts link up as Mohamed Diame crosses from the right for Modibo Maiga to head into the bottom corner from 10 yards. The Spurs supporters are stunned."
Raja Casablanca have progressed to the Club World Cup final where they will meet Bayern Munich on Saturday. They ended up running out 3-1 winners with Mabide scoring a third!
"West Ham level with 11 minutes to play with the simplest of goals. A long ball is flicked on to Matt Taylor, who feeds to ball into Matt Jarvis for the winger to fire into the roof of the Tottenham net. Extra time beckons unless one of the teams can find a winner in the final minutes."
"Ashley Young looks like he's really up for this. A mazy run from the right saw the winger in a similar position to the one he scored from five minutes ago but this time he could only drag his effort wide. Still 1-0 to United."
"Almost immediately a chance for West Ham to equalise at White Hart Lane. The ball drops from the sky for substitute Mohamed Diame to volley across goal. Hugo Lloris makes an excellent diving save to his right."
"Ashley Young gives Manchester United the lead. After picking the ball up from a short free-kick he played a neat one two with Hernandez, who has just come on, before firing well past Sorensen from outside the box, sending the ball in like a flash and sending the United fans into raptures."
