LAMPARD TO NEW YORK CITY FC

Goal understands Frank Lampard is on the verge of finally joining New York City FC. The 36-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Chelsea and is due to earn £90,000-a-week with the new MLS franchise. Their debut season will not begin until next year, though, so he looks likely to join David Villa in moving on loan to Melbourne City to maintain fitness.

LIVERMORE WANTS ENGLAND RECALL

Hull completed the permanent signing of Jake Livermore from Tottenham earlier in the summer, but the midfielder does not believe moving to a "so-called lesser club" will harm his chances of returning to the England squad. The 24-year-old has made just one appearance for his country - against Italy in 2012 - but cites Ron Vlaar and Samir Nasri as examples of players who have had differing success at international level despite being at opposite ends of the table.
