Centre-backs seem to be the flavour of the day and Jose Mourinho is sniffing around one to bring to Stamford Bridge.
Roma stopper Mehdi Benatia is believed to be keen on a move to Chelsea amid rumours the London outfit are interested, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
There are plenty of rumours flying around this morning and Mundo Deportivo in Spain are reporting that Barcelona are looking to the Premier League to sort their central defensive problems.
The paper reports that the Catalan giants are in for Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen, and are also lining up a possible deal for Mats Hummels.

Another star preparing for the game at the Maracana this evening is Mats Hummels. The German centre-back has caught the eye with a series of composed displays in Brazil, and Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Borussia Dortmund defender throughout the summer.
Wonder what the chances of Louis van Gaal landing the 25-year-old though? Well wonder no more, we have the answer here.
Will Hummels be wearing the Man Utd shirt next season?
Angel Di Maria is facing a race against the clock to be fit for tonight's showpiece in Rio de Janeiro, but that's not the only competition involving the Argentine winger.
Goal brought you news yesterday that Manchester United were nearing an agreement with Real Madrid for the 26-year-old, but now it has emerged that Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain are favourites for his signature.

Who will come out on top?
Inter have completed the signing of left-back Dodo from Roma in a deal worth €9 million (£7.1m). The 22-year-old was free to leave the Stadio Olimpico after Ashley Cole's arrival and is keen on helping his new club return to the Champions League. "Everyone wants to play in the Champions League but I want to do so with Inter next season," he said. "The Champions League is the dream of every footballer."

Uh-oh. One of the big Premier League transfer targets of the summer - Mehdi Benatia - looks set to snub interest from England to join Bayern Munich. According to the Daily Star, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all set to miss out as the Bundesliga champions close in on Roma's £30 million-rated defender.

Here's a strange one. Swansea are considering letting Michu leave - either on a permanent deal or on loan - after holding talks with Napoli over the player. Club chairman Huw Jenkins is quoted as saying by the South Wales Evening Post: "Napoli have enquired about Michu and we have been talking to them and to Michu's agent. But there are other options and nothing is finalised yet."

With so many teams spending big and battling for the title, are we set for the best Premier League season EVER?

A reminder of the big rumour from this morning: The Daily Star claims Real Madrid are searching for a replacement for Juventus-bound Alvaro Morata and are interested in Manchester United striker/winger/substitute Danny Welbeck. Mr Transfer Window isn't being kind to Real. Here you go, Barca - you have Suarez. Real? Oh you can have Welbeck. Ouch.

As third/fourth place play-off matches go, this is actually set up quite nicely. Brazil need a response in front of their own fans after the 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Germany, while Louis van Gaal will hope to depart his role as Netherlands boss on a high. Check out our preview below.
Preview: Brazil v Netherlands
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari: "I don't think our work here has been negative. We have had one defeat, which was catastrophic, but I hope people won't focus solely on that one loss. This will probably be hard on us for the rest of our lives. What the fans felt and what we felt won't change from night to day. In the 20-odd years I still have ahead of me, I'll always be remembered for this."
Scolari: 7-1 will haunt us forever
The World Cup isn't over yet, but pre-season friendlies are already under way around England. It's been a mixed start for debutant left-backs so far today. Konstantinos Stafylidis has scored against Motherwell on his first Fulham appearance, while West Ham new boy Aaron Cresswell was partly at fault as goalkeeper Adrian made an almighty hash of a basic catch to let Stevenage take the lead against the Premier League side.
AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has confirmed that forward Robinho is keen on joining Kaka in making a move to Orlando City. The Brazilian's contract at San Siro currently runs until 2016, though, and Galliani says a deal with the new MLS club is still far from being reached. "Relations with 'Binho' are good," he told reporters. "But we're still far apart."
Galliani: Robinho wants to join Orlando
He told Antena 1: "I think it would be a good opportunity for me. For now I will wait for my agent to resolve it. He will certainly know better than I do whether it's true or not. Of course it would be a great opportunity for me. Maybe I could play more and they could rely on me more. I think it would be a unique opportunity."
Bebe welcomes Benfica link
Portuguese newspaper A Bolo claimed earlier today that Manchester United flop Bebe is keen on a return to Portugal next season with champions Benfica after he impressed during a loan spell with Primeira Liga strugglers Pacos Ferreira last year, scoring 11 top-flight goals.
