Liverpool's hopes of signing Xherdan Shaqiri look to have faded after the Bayern Munich sporting director, Matthias Sammer, insisted the Swiss would not be sold this summer. "Xherdan is an important player for the future," he told Kicker. "There are no thoughts at all about selling him."

Pep Guardiola has hailed Germany's new world champions as worthy tournament winners. His Bayern Munich core might have endured a difficult end to the domestic season but formed a key part, as expected, of Joachim Low's side. KROOS UPDATE

Despite Toni Kroos appearing to have confirmed his move from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid after the World Cup final, his agent has insisted that no deal is done yet. Volker Struth told Express: "It is not decided where Toni Kroos' is heading. I can guarantee that."

Kroos will travel to Mallorca tomorrow, Struth said, where he will decide his future. "Then we will sit together and decide what he will do. Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning we will announce the decision."

A statement on the club's official website reads: "Manchester United plc (NYSE:MANU) has reached a ten-year agreement with adidas for a global technical sponsorship and dual branded licensing deal for a minimum guarantee of GBP 750 million, subject to certain adjustments, beginning with the 2015/2016 campaign.

"For the 2014/2015 season, Nike will continue in its role of technical sponsor and trademark licensee."
