Premier League Team of the Week: Giroud & Hazard included after Chelsea heroics

Manchester City may have sealed the league title this week, but it was Chelsea's attacking duo who stand out in this week's XI

Olivier Giroud needed just 30 minutes of playing time to turn Chelsea's game against Southampton on its head and earn his place in this week's Premier League Team of the Week.

The French striker came on as a second half substitute with his side sitting 2-0 down, but within 20 minutes they held a 3-2 lead and he had scored two of them.

Giroud lines up at the pinnacle of the best XI from the latest round of fixtures and is joined by team-mate Eden Hazard, the other goalscorer.

Despite beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 and eventually being confirmed as this season's champions, Manchester City have just one player in the squad in the form of Aymeric Laporte.

Instead, the team who helped hand City the title by beating Manchester United on Sunday were better represented, as West Brom stars Ben Foster and Kieran Gibbs were named.

  1. Ben Foster | West Brom

The goalkeeper made four saves and kept a clean sheet against his former side Manchester United as West Brom ran out 1-0 winners at Old Trafford to confirm Manchester City's title win.

  2. Trent Alexander-Arnold | Liverpool

No Liverpool player created more than the four chances that the young full-back did against Bournemouth, and he set up Mohamed Salah's goal along the way.

  3. Dejan Lovren | Liverpool

Lovren attempted more passes (97) than any other Liverpool player, completing 90.7% of them.

  4. Aymeric Laporte | Manchester City

The centre-back was the Man City player with the most interceptions (five), passes (82) and touches (99) in Saturday's 3-1 win over Tottenham.

  5. Kieran Gibbs | West Brom

The left-back finished the game at Old Trafford with five interceptions - more than any other Baggies player.

  6. Georginio Wijnaldum | Liverpool

The Dutch midfielder attempted four tackles, and completed 100 per cent of his 42 passes as Jurgen Klopp's side beat the Cherries to enhance their challenge for second place.

  7. Luka Milivojevic | Crystal Palace

As well as assisting Wilfried Zaha's second goal in a vital win over Brighton, the all-action midfielder attempted more passes (55) than any team-mate.

  8. Christian Eriksen | Tottenham Hotspur

With his goal against Man City on Saturday, Eriksen has netted in each of his last four games in all competitions (five goals); his longest scoring streak for Tottenham.

  9. Eden Hazard | Chelsea

The Belgian winger netted a nice equaliser against Southampton to take his Premier League total for Chelsea to 69; only Frank Lampard (147) and Didier Drogba (104) have netted more.

  10. Olivier Giroud | Chelsea

The French striker came off the bench to help bring Chelsea back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with two goals of his own. He has now netted 19 times in the Premier League as a substitute, a haul only bettered by Jermain Defoe's 24.

  11. Wilfried Zaha | Crystal Palace

In completing his first-ever Premier League double, Wilfried Zaha netted his first-ever headed goal in the competition, giving a struggling Palace a much-needed boost.
