Daniel Bonera and Robinho, both injured in the Guinness International Champions Cup opener against Valencia, are two of four players dropped by the Italian squad.
Daniel Bonera and Robinho suffered injuries during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Valencia. Both players, along with Philippe Mexes and Mattia de Sciglio, have been dropped for the U.S. portion of the ICC.
Robinho suffered a left thigh strain in the first half against Valencia after scoring the opening goal of the tournament. Bonera fractured his right knee cap and had to be replaced in the 71st minute. According to Milan's official website, he could miss about three months of action.
Robinho is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks. On Monday, the club said Mexes was suffering from a hamstring injury and that De Sciglio had twisted his knee and would be re-examined in the next couple of weeks.
AC Milan announced Tuesday that it will replace the four players from its U-19 side, including Luca Iotti and Davide Pacifico, midfielder Davide Pinato and forward Kinglsey Boateng.
The new additions are expected to be available for Milan’s Audi Cup match Wednesday against Manchester City in Munich, Germany, and then travel with the squad to the United States for its second ICC game against either Chelsea or Inter Milan on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.
