The third round of the Argentine Primera Division continues Thursday with a trio of good games to bet, including Rosario hosting Gimnasia La Plata at 6pm EST.
Rosario Central has started off in the 2014 Primera League with a 1-0 road win over Quilmes and a 1-1 draw at home against River Plate.
El Canalla come into tonight's match against Gimnasia La Plata as 2.10 favourites in the outright sector. Although they lost to La Plata twice last summer, Rosario has only lost once against Gimnasia in their previous six meetings when at home.
Rosario finished 10th in the 20-team Torneo Inicial, with an even record of 7-7-5. The team was also more formidable on home soil as shown by its 5-2-2 mark. I prefer the home win here.
A draw result is currently offered by British bookmaker William Hill at a lower than average 2.90. That will attract a lot action due to the low scoring nature of both teams. The U2.5 total goals shows that bookies expect a low goal output, with paltry odds of 1.40 available for that selection.
A victory for the visitors comes in at 3.70 in the 1x2, while the double chance (a Gimnasia win or draw) brings that down to 1.67. They have won three of the last four against Rosario but they have struggled on the road there as well as in the Inicial, where they posted a 1-4-5 record.
I like a 1-0 result for Rosario, and that is available for a more robust 5.50 in the correct score market. Three of the last five games between these two clubs have seen that result crack, and I give the edge to Rosario merely because it is at home and it has delivered solid performances in its opening two matches
