No doubt the focus of footy fans everywhere will squarely be on the pivotal Manchester City vs Chelsea match Monday at 3pm EST. The hosts have been untouchable at home this year.
Sitting in third place in the Premier League table, it would normally be hard to see how Chelsea comes into a match as the major underdog. That is, until you realize the Blues are visiting the best home team in the league in Manchester City.
The hosts are a perfect 11-0 with a ridiculous +34 goal difference at Etihad Stadium this season. They are coming of a huge 5-1 away win over Tottenham last week. The Citizens have averaged nearly four goals per game at home, they've won seven straight matches, and a win today would see them go on top of the table ahead of Arsenal.
There is concern with leading goal scorer Sergio Aguero being out for a while, as is Sami Nasri due to injury. Still, with solid depth including Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko leading the attack and at 1.95 for the outright win, I like City to win its fifth game of the last six vs the Blues. A double result for the hosts is at 2.75, and the both teams to score selection with a City win is at 3.50.
A draw result is offered by William Hill right now at 3.20.
Chelsea is 5-3-3 on the road in league play, but it boasts the best defensive mark in the Premiership with only 20 goals conceded all year so far, and the London side defeated City at home back in October.
The Blues are available at 4.50 to deliver City's first home defeat, but with such a defensive approach being employed by Jose Mourinho against top clubs while on the road it is not a bet that will not exude much confidence.
The O2.5 is at 1.73 at the same firm, and with an average of over 4.5 goals per City home game it's very hard to go against this selection. Even with Aguero out, there are three of the Premier League's top 11 scorers in this match.
Lastly, how about considering William Hill's special that sees a hefty payout of 6.00 should Yaya Toure score and City win? The Ivory Coast international is fourth in team scoring with 12 goals.
