The first match of the 2014 Mexican League opens up in Morelia as they host Queretaro at 8:30pm EST tonight. I like the hosts for both the outright and double win selections.
It was only mere weeks ago that the Mexican Apertura finished but the start of the Clausura is now here and the first match of the season should see Morelia open up with a home win.
The hosts are being listed at 1.70 by William Hill to win tonight's tilt outright. They were right beside each other in the Apertura tables, finishing sixth and seventh respectively and separated by only a single point, but Morelia have not lost to Queretaro in their last 12 meetings against each other and defeated them in both encounters last season.
As a result of its sheer dominance against tonight's opponents I like the double result to crack here for Morelia (lead at halftime, win at fulltime) which is presently being offered at 2.75.
A draw selection is listed at 3.40, also available at William Hill, while the double tie pick is sitting it 5.50. It does provide value but not enough to take the plunge in the outright or double markets.
A visitor win is at 4.50 but as mentioned they haven't beat Morelia in seven years. Even though it is opening night where some teams could steal points I don't expect that pattern to change.
I also like the both teams not to score pick at 1.91 as well. Queretaro are a low scoring team on the road averaging less than a goal for during the Apertura but also didn't concede many either with only 1.25 allowed while playing away. The better value for this pick though is in the only team to score market. If Morelia are the only team to notch a goal tonight that will payout a decent 2.70.
