The Bundesliga meets La Liga today in Europa League play when Sevilla head to Freiburg in a game in which the Spanish side need only a draw to advance to the knockout stage.
Freiburg comes into its final group stage match today at home tied on points with Liberac for the second knockout stage spot. The team will need to produce goals against a Sevilla side three points off both but that still hasn't qualified for the next round, but will be happy to settle with a draw.
The hosts are being offered by William Hill as 2.80 underdogs in the 1x2 market while that moves up to an even 5.00 should they win and both teams score in the game.
The German side are unbeaten in their last three group stage matches including a crucial 2-1 away win against Liberac. The trouble with selecting them is that they have been brutal in domestic play where they currently sit in 16th of 18 teams in the Bundesliga. They have lost four straight and more disturbingly have yet to win at home in nine matches in all competitions. Expecting them to get their first win over a top 10 La Liga side that only require a draw to qualify doesn't look promising.
The draw result is listed at 3.50 and goes up by 50 cents to a flat 4.00 for the both teams to score and draw combo. A 1-1 result doesn't seem far-fetched and at 7.00 offers better value. A tie would be good enough to clinch top spot in the group for the Spaniards.
The visitors are currently in eight in La Liga and are on a six game unbeaten run. They have earned four of a possible six points on the road in this group and defeated Freiburg at home in their first encounter by a 2-0 score. They are favoured here today at 2.40 to win in the outright while a 1-0 win is listed at 9.00 and 2-1 result is at 9.50.
Expect Frieburg to get desperate late in the game for goals and as a result take a look at the over 1.5 total goals in the second half to hit at 2.00. With Liberac playing last place Estoril in the other group stage game, Freiburg will need to score more but I anticipate Sevilla to catch them off the counter.
