The MLS playoffs start tonight with the winner of tonight's game between Seattle and Colorado advancing to the second round.
Tonight's game is a winner-takes-all bout as the Colorado Rapids heads to CenturyLink Field to face a Seattle Sounders team they defeated 5-1 just over three weeks ago. Before that dominant victory at home though, it was Seattle that had owned Colorado over the years.
Seattle had defeated Colorado in eight straight matches, including one earlier this season on the road before a draw mid-summer. The teams are an even 1-1-1 this year versus one another, and you can expect a tight one tonight.
The Sounders plummeted in the standings over the last two months of the season as they are winless in their last seven league games, including four losses in their last five. Still, they come into the match tonight at favourites with 1.91 being offered at William Hill for the outright win.
I can see the draw cracking (the result after 90 minutes of play), which is slated at 3.50, also at the same British-based bookmaker. The double draw takes that further up to 5.00. They tied each other 1-1 in their only Seattle-based encounter back in July.
The Rapids are coming off a 3-0 loss to Vancouver that could have seen them host tonight's match had they won. They've won three of their last six overall but also lost a trio, all on the road. At 4.00, there is value in a Colorado pick, but I simply can't envision them winning tonight in regulation.
Ignore the fact that Colorado has been shutout in three straight road games and take the both teams to score selection at 1.91. This is a one-game playoff and not a two-legged affair, so both teams will leave everything out there tonight.
Live betting will be available for the match tonight at William Hill so follow it second to second, especially if it goes to extra time.
