Brazilian League Betting Preview: Vasco da Gama vs. Goias

The Brazilian league has provided some great betting this season and there are a pair of games tonight to consider, including Vasco as it hosts Goias tonight at 6:30 pm EDT.

Vasco da Gama sits in 18th place in the 20-team Brazilian league table and yet still averages over a point a game with 32 earned from 28 matches. The team is 5-5-4 (W-L-T) at home this year and is coming off a crucial 1-0 loss to Criciuma on the weekend.

The hosts are listed today at odds of 2.10 over at William Hill for the win in the outright section, and though they are favoured I don't feel the win tonight.

The last time these two played was a 1-1 draw at Goias, and I like that selection to crack again here today. The visitors have ten draws this year and they have drawn in three of their last six matches against Vasco. The teams aren't that far apart in terms of talent, and at 3.25 the draw looks most favourable today.

A win today would see Goias make a huge leap from 10th spot all the way into fifth position. The visitors are 10-8-10 this season and are unbeaten in their last three, including a pair of wins over Bahia and Portuguesa. The central Brazilian side can be had at odds of 3.25.

With both sides of the over/under 2.5 total goals market sitting at 1.91 it is a hard call, but I'll side with the under in this case given the expectation of a tight and closely fought encounter.

If you like placing wagers on goal times take a look at one to be scored by either club from the 76th minute to the final whistle, which is at 1.95. The Brazilian league is notorious for late goals and that could be a decent pick for tonight.
