In a match featuring the 4th and 5th place teams in the Eastern Conference, Houston will look to break a seven game winless run but are still considered favourites by bookies.Bet on the MLS all weekend and take advantage of a sweet deal from William Hill where you can land a $100 free betting bonus simply by opening a free account today!
There was a long stretch of time in which the Houston Dynamo were absolutely unbeatable at home. But since that league record streak ended earlier this season the club have looked average both at home and on the road.
The Dynamo have a pretty even overall record of 6-6-5 (W-L-T) this season with a 4-2-2 mark at BBVA Compass Stadium. Having said that, they dropped a 2-0 result in their last match to New York last weekend and haven't won a match since early May.
Not to mention that they haven't won at home in their last three, including a 0-0 bore draw with lowly Toronto FC two weeks ago.
Still, bookmakers feel Houston will have minimal trouble against Philadelphia with a payout of 1.80 available at William Hill.
I prefer the draw result at 3.50 given Philly's 3-3-3 record on the road coupled with their last pair of games ending in 2-2 draws. The draw/draw result in the halftime/fulltime section pulls that up to 5.50.
The visitor win is listed at 4.50 and with the Union four points ahead of Houston, it certainly is not as far-fetched a result as many think. The Philly pick in the draw no bet option is at 3.00.
What I prefer here is not the winners selection but the total goals. Normally, I would take the under 2.5 given that Houston have cracked that in seven straight and in 10 of their last 11.
However, the last four Philadelphia games have cracked the over 2.5 and this result also hit in all three games these two played last season. Philadelphia away matches have generated 30 goals in 9 games, an average of 3.33, the highest in the league.
Now, both teams will be missing their leading scorers with Houston's Will Bruin (four goals) and Philly's Jack McInerney (10 goals) out on international duty at the Gold Cup. McInerney is tied for 2nd in the leaague scoring charts but Conor Casey and Sebastian le Toux scored in Wednesday's away match against Real Salt Lake and are formidable replacements in the American striker's absence. The over is at 1.91 as is the under.
Take a look at the both teams to score option at 1.73 with a draw which on a $10 wager will generate $60.55. It's worth at least a tenner to look at.
