With all the attention focused on tomorrow's El Clasico, many have forgot about a monster match in Italy today when Napoli faces Juventus in the battle for the Scudetto.
With a league best 8-2-2 record on the road and a goals allowed average of less than one per game -- and the fact that Juve defeated Napoli earlier this season at home by a 2-0 score -- it really isn't surprising to see that. Juventus has simply been the best team over the last 1.5 years in Italy.
But beyond just laying everything down on the defending champions, do take into consideration that Juve's two road losses have come against Roma and AC Milan in 1-0 results, two clubs of strong quality, just like Napoli.
The draw does look appealing at 3.10 but I am going to go against the grain and take Napoli for the win.
The hosts have been fantastic at home all year, generating a record of 9-1-3 (W-L-T) at the Stadio San Paolo, and they have scored an average of 2.30 in those matches. The fact that if they lose this game they will effectively concede the title to their opponents will be of huge motivation to say the least.
And though they have drawn three straight games, they haven't lost in their last nine league matches; and whenever you have league-leading goal-scorer Edinson Cavani up front with Marek Hamsik big things can happen on a big stage.
The Napoli win is currently at 3.40, which should change close to kickoff.
Also take a look at the under 2.5 here, given Juventus' tendency to keep scores low against high quality opposition while on the road along with Napoli's last three games producing only a total of two goals for both teams combined. That is listed at 1.73.
For Cavani to break his six-game goal drought, he will pay 5.50 to open up the scoring or 2.20 to do it an any point in the game.
