After the Coppa Italia took centre stage midweek, Serie A is back in action on Friday with the first game of the featuring Catania as it plays struggling US Pescara.
The slow starters have done relatively well thus far in Serie A as they currently sit in eighth spot on the table with an overall record of 7-6-4 (W-L-T). However, six of those wins have come at home. Their record on the road is a different story and has been dismal at best and is one of the worst in Italy. They have allowed an average of two goals per match while away, and have only averaged one for.
Catania's goal scoring woes won't be helped by the news that top scorer Gonzalo Bergessio is out of the match due to injury. But the team's ability to finish strong, along with Pescara's consistently bad performances this year, have allowed Catania to be favoured with odds of 2.14 over at Uwin.com.
The draw result is being listed at 3.20, and despite Pescara having the second lowest amount of draws and only one at home this season, it could be a value bet to consider.
The hosts are not likely to win the match and are in a rebuilding process as they have had a new coach at the helm for four matches. They are in the relegation zone (18th) and have more losses (11) than any other team in the league. A big reason for the futility is due to their brutal defence core, which has conceded more goals than any other Serie A club (34 in 17 games). Their record at home is 3-5-1.
Pescara can be taken at odds of 3.40.
I like the draw/away result at 5.25 due to Catania's notorious slow starts and its ability to come back as evidenced by the aforementioned 3-1 results after being down 1-0 at half.
I also prefer the second half to have the most goals scored at 2.04, and also for Catania to be the last team to score at 1.78.
