The most anticipated game so far of the Bundesliga season gets under way at 12:30pm EST when Bayern take on the two-time defending visitors from Dortmund. Here are the odds. The champions of the last three Bundesliga crowns clash once again in a highly anticipated dual at the Allianz Arena in Munich as Bayern face Borussia Dortmund who must win or at least draw if they have any ambitions of winning their third consecutive championship.
Dortmund come into the match in third place, one behind Leverkusen, and a very sizable 11 from Bayern who have been red hot to start the season.
Though Dortmund were able to mount a great comeback after a lacklustre start to the season last year, this year's Bayern squad appears to be on a mission after blowing the Champions League final at home to Chelsea and have been one of the best team's on earth these last four months.
Bayern are considerable favourites with Uwin.com listing them at 1.78 to deliver the win in the outright market. They have been fantastic at home and with the exception of a 2-1 loss to Leverkusen one month ago, have won six of their seven games at the Allianz while scoring a ridiculous 22 goals and conceding only four.
With Marko Mandzukic and Thomas Muller leading the way with nine and eight goals so far Bayern have one of the most dynamic attacking cores in club football with Frank Ribery and Toni Kroos adding to the mix.
The draw result may be the pick of the match with a rather solid pay out of 3.80 to boot. Dortmund will be gunning for goals but would surely be pleased to walk away with a point and gradually chip away at Bayern's over the next few months. The Asian Handicap gives Dortmund a +0.5 goal lead with odds of 2.08.
A win for the yellow and black is offered at 4.30 and with Robert Lewandowski tied atop the league goal charts and Marco Reus delivering strong performances it certainly isn't as big a long shot as some are making it to be. I expect a goal scoring feast and so do bookies as the over 2.5 at 1.60 doesn't offer much value in that market. The over 3.5 is also only at 2.53 so not the best bang for your buck.
Instead, look at the second half as the half to produce the most goals with a payout of 1.97 it isn't a bad selection given the scoring capavilities of both squads combined with what is at stake.
For some extra fun why not pick a player or two to route for to score. If Mandzukic opens up the scoring he would pay out 4.60 as would Mario Gomez. If you like Dortmund and Lewandowski is your man he is issued at 6.85 to open it up while odds of 2.54 can be had should he score at any time during the game.
