MLS Cup final: early lines

Bob Levey

The MLS Cup final is two days away and here are some of the early lines on the game that will feature David Beckham's final appearance in a Galaxy uniform.

(GOAL will bring you a full betting preview for the MLS Cup championship match this weekend with updated odds in addition to our already world leading coverage of the match)

With only two days to go before the MLS Cup championship, the early lines have come out at and here is what they look like for the rematch of the 2011 Final between the LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo:

The red hot Galaxy are favoured right now at odds of 1.87. And why not? They desposed of the Vancouver Whitecaps, Supporters' Shield winners San Jose Earthquakes, and a strong Seattle Sounders side to get to the big show. Plus, they are defending champions, so they know what it takes to deliver at the biggest stage.

Oh, and don't forget that they will be playing in front of a capacity crowd at home.

The draw is being listed at 3.30. So if this match is even at the end of 90 minutes then that is the winning selection in the outright market.

The two-time MLS champions are the natural underdogs but should not be discounted out from the get go. Head coach Dominic Kinnear has a solid mix of veteran and strong young players at his disposal and were able to eliminate Chicago, top seeded Sporting KC, and DC United en route to the final. Not to mention they beat LA 2-1 in their only matchup during the season. The Dynamo are listed at 3.80.

The over/under 2.5 sees the bookmakers' expectations of a low scoring game. The over 2.5 is approaching evens at 1.94 while the under is at 1.77. With the Galaxy's Robbie Keane absolutely scorching the opposition and Houston's young gun Will Bruin netting four in the post-season so far, the over could be the selection to take here.
If you see these two really lighting up the sky then maybe the 3.5 over is for you, though at 3.40 isn't as high as we would like.

For both teams to score the odds are 1.79 for yes and 1.91 for no.

The halftime bets see LA pay 2.40 to lead after 45 minutes, the draw is listed at 2.10 while Houston is at 4.50.

What do you think will be the highest scoring half? Well, has the 1st half at 3.10, the 2nd half at 2.02 while an equal amount of goals in each half would pay out 3.40.
