thumbnail Hello,

Every point counts now in the race to secure a playoff and a win tonight for the Vancouver Whitecaps would put them into a temporary tie for third in the Western Conference.

The 'Caps lost their last match 2-1 away to Real Salt Lake two weeks at Rio Tinto Stadium and are well rested for Saturday night’s encounter. Vancouver has been stellar so far at home this season, having only lost once all year in 11 matches.

Vancouver stands only eight points behind Real in the Western Conference standings with a game in hand. A win - which is paying 2.30 at – would go a long way towards securing one of the five playoff spots for the Whitecaps. They will have to do this without the services of starting goalkeeper Joe Cannon, who was ejected from the match against the Royals and is suspended for tonight which could pose serious problems if backup Brad Knighton can’t hold down the fort.

Also keep in mind that last season when Salt Lake visited Vancouver, the 'Caps earned a 3-0 result.

The draw is paying 3.20 and I like this because of how close the teams are and that Vancouver has the second most home draws in all of Major League Soccer with four.

RSL is coming off a 1-0 loss away to Colorado last weekend, but it will be buoyed by the return of Canadian international Will Johnson who is listed as probable for tonight’s match after suffering an ankle sprain. On the road, the Royals are 4-5-2 (W-L-T) and are paying 2.80 to win outright and are paying 1.80 in the Asian Handicap with a +0.0/+0.5 advantage.

Vancouver with the half goal disadvantage is at 2.06.

The Over/Under sees the usual line of 2.5 goals with the over at 2.04 and the under at 1.82.
