Mexico manager Miguel Herrera has chosen the 28-year-old goalkeeper over Jesus Corona, according to ESPN and Fox.
Mexico manager Miguel Herrera stated in a news conference in Santos on Sunday that he would decide that evening who would be his first-choice goalkeeper, with Jesus Corona and Ochoa both featuring for one half during Mexico's final warm-up game against Portugal on Friday.
Herrera has previously said the decision is the hardest he has to make ahead of Mexico's opening World Cup match.
The decision has not been made official, but Herrera may announce it over his social media accounts, or could wait until Thursday, when he has said he will name his team to face Cameroon.
Herrera stressed Sunday that Corona is better with his feet, but that Ochoa's strength is in his shot-stopping ability.
The issue of who should start in goal for El Tri has divided Mexico fans and has become a widely talked about issue in Mexico's sporting media over recent weeks.
