The Manchester United striker found time to appear at his former club's stadium on Sunday night.
GUADALAJARA — Manchester United striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez’s short-term future may well be up in the air, but he found time to make an appearance at the Estadio Omnilife on Sunday ahead of Chivas’ opening game of the Apertura 2014 against Chiapas.
Hernandez was accompanied by his grandfather Tomas Balcazar – also a Chivas legend – at the side of the pitch and received a warm reception from a set of fans that have had little to cheer since he left for United in 2010.
Hernandez is on an extended break following the World Cup and appeared at Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s fight against Erislandy Lara in Las Vegas last Saturday, before spending a few days in his native Guadalajara.
The striker is set to join Manchester United’s United States tour party in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, ahead of the team’s friendly against LA Galaxy on Wednesday.
Hernandez is set to meet new Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal, and his club future should be resolved in the next few weeks, with rumors swirling of interest from clubs such as Inter Milan and Arsenal.
