thumbnail Hello,

The Argentine striker tells Goal Mexico that his current teammate could thrive in Serie A.

Striker Mauro Boselli has played in Argentina, Spain, England and Italy and believes the latter would be the best home for current Leon teammate and Mexico international Carlos Pena, who has signaled his intent to play on the other side of the pond.

“’Gullit’ Pena has it all to triumph in Europe, but he should choose the country wisely,”  Boselli told Goal Mexico. “I think in Italian soccer he would quietly shine. He’s a beast.”

The Argentine added that the Premier League – he joined Wigan in 2010 - was the hardest competition for him to adapt to and lamented his lack of continuity in England.

The 28-year-old credited his instant success at Leon to Uruguayan coach Gustavo Matosas, who eased the 2009 Copa Libertadores top scorer into the Mexican game bit by bit.

“The Mexican league is more complicated than it seems,” said Boselli, who has 19 goals in 29 Liga MX games. “The times (of matches) are difficult, there are different altitudes and there are teams with top level players.”

The former Palermo forward also said if he does return to Argentina in the future, he’d ideally like to return to one of his old clubs Boca Juniors or Estudiantes de La Plata.

Boselli has been out of action with a thigh injury for the last couple of weeks, but could return for Leon’s crucial Copa Libertadores home game against Emelec this Wednesday.
