The Germany trainer is weighing up the best alternative to the Bayern Munich defender, who is suspended after picking up two yellow cards in as many Group B games in Euro 2012.
Germany coach Joachim Low has admitted that he is unsure as to whether Benedikt Howedes or Lars Bender will cover for the suspended Jerome Boateng at right back against Denmark for Sunday's Euro 2012 clash. The Bayern Munich defender picked up a yellow card in both of his side's victories against Portugal and Netherlands, meaning he will watch his side's final group game from the stands.
The former Stuttgart coach is thinking of several alternatives for the suspended defender, the most likely of which are Howedes and Bender.
"There are reflections about who starts between Howedes and Bender," Low told a press conference.
The Schalke skipper is said to be the most likely candidate to supplement Boateng against Denmark despite not being a natural right-back, something Low himself admitted.
"Howedes' best qualities are displayed as a center back but he has already played as a fullback for us."
Depsite picking up six points from their opening group games, Germany's presence in the quarterfinals of the competition is yet to be confirmed, and the 52-year-old urged his troops to finish the job in Lviv.
"It is all in our hands. Another victory would be important because it would allow us to top the group and stay in Danzig for the sequel," Low concluded.
