Blanc praises Nasri after England draw

The French national team coach was pleased to see the attacking midfielder shine in Les Bleus' opening game, and was equally satisfied with their defensive performance

Laurent Blanc has taken time to praise Samir Nasri following France's 1-1 draw against England in Group D of Euro 2012 on Monday.

The Manchester City midfielder had received his fair share of criticism ahead of the European Championship, but silenced his doubters with an excellent performance against the Three Lions when he netted the equalizer.

"We've always supported Samir. Coaches always want their talented players to live up to their potential, but you have to be patient with some players more than others," Blanc stated at a press conference.

He added, "Nasri needed that and he rewarded us. We have an attacking potential and we've progressed in that area."

"The other good news is that we defended well and didn't pick up any cards."

Les Bleus resume match action against Ukraine on Friday.
