The new Rs boss has confirmed the nature of the Brazilian keeper's injury suffered against the Black Cats, while praising his replacement between the sticks, Robert Green.QPR manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that goalkeeper Julio Cesar suffered a torn groin in the Rs' Premier League encounter with Sunderland on Tuesday.
The 33 year-old was substituted at halftime during his team's goalless draw with the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light and was replaced by second-choice shot-stopper and former England No. 1 Robert Green.
The position of goalkeeper has courted significant attention at Loftus Road this season after Green played just three games for the Eest London club before Mark Hughes signed the former Inter Milan No. 1 to replace him, and Redknapp was keen to praise both players.
"He did his groin. He tore a groin. He's a good pro, I've been impressed with him as a fella and can see why he's played at the very, very top," Redknapp told reporters. "Rob Green made a great save when he came on, so we're lucky there we've got two great keepers."
The 0-0 draw against Martin O'Neill's side away from home was only the fifth point that the Hoops' have managed to pick up in their 14 league games so far, and they remain rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points from safety.
