The Brazilian defender has accused the billionaire Blues owner of panicking during the Portuguese's tenure and praised Paris Saint-Germain's owners for being 'less intense'Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has hit out at Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich over the way he treated and sacked former manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The 30-year-old, who left Stamford Bridge in January to join the Parisian club, thinks that the Blues chief dispensed with Villas-Boas as a panicked reaction to the emergence of Tottenham and Manchester City as title contenders.
"Andre should have been given more time," Alex told Champions magazine. "After all, the club spent a lot of money getting him from Porto and needed to take into account that there was a new manager with new players to settle in.
"Everybody [at Chelsea] was starting to look over their shoulders because Manchester City had arrived in the top four and Spurs were catching up."
Alex went on to praise PSG's Qatari owners for being less intense and placing less pressure on the team than he felt under Abramovich.
"We [at PSG] certainly aren't under the same amount of pressure," he claimed. "Mr Abramovich never hesitated to show up and demand more effort - there were several team meetings. We've met representatives of the owners, but the relationship at PSG is definitely less intense."
Success will be soon at the Parc des Princes, however, after the club paid over 50 million pounds to secure the services of AC Milan duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.
Alex did point out, however, that the new-look team will need time to gel and cannot be expected to win silverware straight away.
"A team needs at least two seasons to gel properly and get itself into a position to challenge regularly for trophies," he explained. "When I joined PSG it was clear to me that we would not start winning things overnight.
"It’s understandable that the arrival of the new owners and all the media coverage the team was receiving could get people over-excited. But the players were always aware that we are in the process of building a foundation."
