The Spanish champions had looked set to pull off an unlikely result against their city rivals in May, but Carlo Ancelotti's men won in extra-time after a last-second Sergio Ramos equalizer.
Diego Simeone's side got its season off to a dream start, with Mario Mandzukic's goal sealing a 2-1 aggregate win in the first domestic trophy of the season, but Koke is not looking back.
"This isn't about revenge," he is quoted as saying by AS. "They won the Champions League and now we have won the Supercopa. This has just started. We are very proud of the team and the people."
Atletico lost the likes of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis over the summer but Koke feels that, with the core of last season's Liga-winning team in place, his club has a solid foundation upon which to build.
"It seemed like everything was complicated by the departure of teammates, but we have relied on the basis of the group and the new guys who have come in," he said. "Look how well we have started - with a title in front of our fans!"
