thumbnail Hello,

The goalkeeper hit the century mark with his appearance against Nigeria on Saturday night in the USA's final official friendly before starting the World Cup.

Tim Howard has now hit the 100-cap mark for the United States national team, reaching the milestone in Saturday's friendly against Nigeria.

The Everton goalkeeper made his first appearance for his country in March of 2002 in a match against Ecuador.

After the 2006 World Cup, when Howard was a backup to Kasey Keller, the New Jersey native took over the starting spot for the USA and has held that post ever since, leading the team to the semifinals of the 2009 Confederations Cup and the second round of the 2010 World Cup finals.

Howard becomes the 15th player in the U.S. men's national team to reach the 100-cap mark and also holds the team record for wins as a goalkeeper with 54, a mark he set against Nigeria (though he was origianlly credited with a win against Turkey.)
