The former LA Galaxy star had a season to remember after he was traded to Chicago last spring.
Magee was traded to the Fire in May from the LA Galaxy and followed the move with 15 goals and four assists in 22 games with the Fire.
His total goal haul of 21, with the other six coming prior to the trade, was second in the league, tripling his previous personal high mark for goals in a season.
Magee, a Chicago native, was the only American to finish in the top four of the voting, with Robbie Keane, Marco Di Vaio and Tim Cahill finishing in second, third and fourth, respectively, in the total voting for the league's top individual honor.
