thumbnail Hello,

TFC acquired the rights to Real Salt Lake striker Justin Braun on Monday. The Reds gave up 2012 first-round draft pick Aaron Maund in the deal.

The first move of the Kevin Payne era for Toronto FC involves a couple of players that may not cause too many tremors across Major League Soccer.

In a deal announced Monday, TFC sent Aaron Maund to Real Salt Lake in exchange for forward Justin Braun. Maund just completed his rookie campaign with the Reds, appearing 18 times in all competitions after being drafted 12th overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

“We’d like to thank Aaron for his contributions to our club this past season,” Toronto FC head coach and director of soccer operations Paul Mariner said in a statement on the club's website. “We want to welcome Justin into our squad, he is an experienced forward who will help our club.”

Braun split his most recent season between RSL and Montreal, where he started the year with the Impact. The expansion side traded the 25-year-old attacker in July.

Braun made 14 appearances for the Impact and RSL in 2012, after having played four seasons with Chivas USA. The Utah native has appeared in 110 league matches over his career, scoring 24 times in that span.
