thumbnail Hello,

Youngster Lucas Cavallini headlined a handful of Canuck goalscorers as numerous leagues neared the finish line. Goal recaps that and more Canadians Abroad weekend action.

Cavallini double in Uruguay

Young striker Lucas Cavallini continued his impressive season at Juventud de Las Piedras over the weekend when he scored two of his club's four goals in a 4-2 win over Progreso.

The 20-year-old Canadian international scored Juventud's first and third goals in the victory, which sees the club into eighth place in Uruguay's top flight with two matchs remaining. Remarkably, Juventud can still finish the Clausura as high as second, as the team is only four points back of that lofty spot on the table.

Much of the club's success is due to Cavallini, whose eight goals in 22 appearances (15 starts) is good enough for second-most on the team.

Hoilett a bit player in QPR defeat

Over in England, Junior Hoilett subbed in at the 80th minute of QPR's 1-0 loss at Liverpool on Sunday, replacing Park Ji-Sung in an unsuccessful attempt to supply the relegated London side with an offensive spark.

The 22-year-old has struggled all season long to make an impression ar Loftus Road, and with QPR heading to the Championship he may be on the lookout for a new club.

Jackson not in Norwich squad

Seeing even less Premier League action this year was Simeon Jackson, whose frustrating season ended with the 26-year-old not even in Norwich City's game day squad for Sunday's 3-2 win at Manchester City.

Like Hoilett, Jackson will likely be on the move over the summer.

Hainault notches winner in Scotland

Next door in the Scottish Premier League, André Hainault played the role of spoiler as his goal for Ross County on Sunday secured a 1-0 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Hainault's strike -- a well-hit volley from inside the penalty area -- not only ensured a Ross County win on the final day of competition in the SPL, but it also knocked Inverness out of Scotland's final Europa League spot.

Stamatopoulos victorious in Sweden

Elsewhere in Northern Europe, goalkeeper Kenny Stamatopoulos played 90 minutes between the pipes in a 3-2 victory for AIK over Öster in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

After nine matches, AIK is in eighth spot on the table.

Jonke, Thompson square off in Finland

Over in the Veikkausliiga, Frank Jonke and Jaro visited Roger Thompson and IFK Mariehamn over the weekend, with the home side coming out on top 1-0.

Jonke lined up at forward for Jaro but was subbed out in the eighth minute with an apparent injury. Thompson went 90 minutes in defence for the winning side.

Haber gets game-winner

Meanwhile in Israel, striker Daniel Haber scored an 85th minute header to propel Maccabi Haifa to a 3-2 victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile in Germany, defender Marcel de Jong made a cameo appearance for FC Augsburg on Saturday, subbing in at the 89th minute of a 3-1 win over Greuther Fürth.

The victory assured Augsburg of another season in the Bundesliga, as the club managed to climb out of the relegation zone at the latest possible date.

Occean an unused sub for Eintracht

Watching from the bench, Olivier Occean did not see any time on the pitch as his team Eintracht Frankfurt fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Eintracht ends the campaign in sixth place, good enough to claim Germany's final Europa League berth. Whether Occean returns is yet to be determined.
