De Guzman hits for a double

Canadian-born Jonathan de Guzman's stellar debut campaign in the Premier League continued over the weekend when the 25-year-old scored twice in leading Swansea City to a 3-1 win over Stoke.

The younger brother of Canadian international Julian de Guzman has turned heads with his standout play, and has reportedly met with Dutch officials in regards to representing the Netherlands again in the near future. The Swansea midfielder remains eligible for Canada until he plays in an official FIFA-sanctioned tournament for the Dutch.

Jackson sits as Norwich thrashed

Despite getting increased minutes for Norwich City in recent weeks, Simeon Jackson remained on the bench for the Canaries' tilt with Liverpool on Saturday.

He'll probably be relieved that he didn't play, as Norwich was demolished to the tune of 5-0 by the Reds.

Hoilett not used in QPR deadlock

Junior Hoilett returned to the match day 18 for Queens Park Rangers on Saturday after a brief layoff, as the 22-year-old has been recovering for a hamstring strain suffered over the holidays.

Hoilett did not play, however, as QPR grabbed a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

Edgar goes 90 in Burnley shutout

David Edgar seems to have regained his place on the Burnley backline these days, as the big centre back was once again in the starting lineup in a 2-0 win over host Millwall.

Edgar played the full match, which saw Burnley into seventh in England's second tier Championship.

Hume sidelined for Doncaster victory

Iain Hume was forced to watch from afar as an injury kept the diminutive striker from taking part in Doncaster's latest win, a 2-0 triumph over Leyton Orient in League One action.

Hume tweeted that his injury isn't too serious and he should be back on the pitch soon. Doncaster is tied for first in the league.

Hutchinson goes 90 in PSV loss

The Eredivisie returned to action on Friday, but unfortunately for PSV Eindhoven the break didn't seem long enough. PSV dropped a 3-1 decision to PEC Zwolle, a costly loss to a big underdog that could hamper the Eindhoven side's championship aspirations.

Playing his usual 90 minutes for PSV was Atiba Hutchinson, who picked up an 80th minute caution in a card-filled affair that saw Hutchinson's side finish the match with 10-men.

Occean gets spot duty in Eintracht defeat

Olivier Occean subbed into the 62nd minute of an Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Eintracht sits fourth in the Bundesliga after 18 rounds.

De Jong makes cameo in crucial Augsburg victory

Marcel de Jong only played the final nine minutes (plus stoppage) of FC Augsburg's 3-2 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday, but his role was a crucial one as Augsburg clung to a shrinking lead.

The win gives de Jong's side a massive three points as the club looks to claw its way out of the Bundesliga relegation zone.

Klukowski an unused sub for APOEL

Mike Klukowski was nailed to the bench as Cypriot power APOEL drew Omonia Nicosa 1-1 on Saturday.

APOEL is in second in Cyprus' first division.
