PSV Eindhoven opened its 2012-13 Eredivisie campaign on the road at RKC Waalwijk, and the season premiere didn't go well for the reigning Dutch cup champion. PSV fell 3-2 on Saturday, with Atiba Hutchinson going the full match at right back for the Eindhoven side.
Vålerenga grabs a win to remain midtable
Lars Hirschfeld was denied a clean sheet after giving up an 82nd minute goal as his side Vålerenga won 3-1 on Friday over Odd Grenland. Vålerenga sits in eight place in the Norwegian Tippeligaen after 19 matches, although the club is just two points behind fourth place Viking.
McKenna out three week after ankle surgery
1. FC Köln announced on its website that defender Kevin McKenna would miss up to three weeks after undergoing surgery on his right ankle. The 32-year-old complained of pain during training and a scan revealed the injury.
McKenna missed Köln's most recent 2. Bundesliga match - a 1-1 draw with visiting Sandhausen on Friday - as well as the club's 4-0 loss to Arsenal in a friendly on Sunday.
Eintracht Braunschweig jumps to 2. Bundesliga lead with 1-0 win
A 1-0 victory at Union Berlin gave Eintracht Braunschweig a perfect 2-0 start to the season, which has propelled the club to the top of the table in the very early going.
Striker Randy Edwini-Bonsu saw limited action in Sunday's match, subbing in during injury time to help ensure the win.
Occean scores twice in friendly
Olivier Occean struck for two goals as his new club Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Valencia 4-2 in its final exhibition match before kicking off the season.
Eintracht has a DFB Pokal fixture against Erzgebirge Aue next Sunday before hosting Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga opener on Aug. 25.
MyPa wins big in Finland
Striker Riley O'Neill played the entire match and picked up an 11th minute yellow card as his side MyPa rolled over host JJK 3-0 in Veikkausliiga play.
After 21 rounds, MyPa is in fifth place in the Finnish top tier.
Trafford and Jonke face off in the Veikkausliiga
IFK Mariehamn disposed of cellar dwelling Jaro 2-0 to climb into sole possession of second place in the league on Saturday, with Mason Trafford going 90 minutes in the back line for the winning side.
Pickering, Ontario's Frank Jonke played the full game at striker for Jaro, which has languished at the bottom of the table for much of the season.
AIK romps over Örebro as Canadian 'keepers look on
AIK kept pace with the top three in Sweden's Allsvensken by virtue of a 3-0 victory over visiting Örebro on Sunday, giving the home side an equal number of points as third place BK Hacken.
Goalkeepers Kenny Stamatopoulos (AIK) and Tomer Chencinski (Örebro) watched their respective teams from the bench.
