Once lauded at the Welsh club, Rodgers guides his new club across the border to face some old faces and try to make amends for the League Cup defeat last month.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has several injury problems to mull over before the visit of Liverpool on Sunday.

Neil Taylor (ankle) is out for the rest of the season, but more recent problems include first-choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm (groin) and Ki Sung-Yong (hamstring).

Leroy Lita and Kyle Bartley (both thigh) will also be missing while Chico (leg), who was withdrawn during the League Cup victory over Liverpool in October, could be fit enough for a place on the bench.

However, Rodgers will be pleased that his own selection issues seem to be slowly clearing up with just the one fresh injury concern following Andre Wisdom's (knee) withdrawal against Young Boys on Thursday night.

Elsewhere, Fabio Borini (foot) has not had much luck since joining from Roma in the summer and is not expected to return before the turn of the year. Martin Kelly (knee) will be missing for even longer with a March 2013 comeback mooted.

Lucas Leiva (thigh) has played just twice in the Premier League this season and, although he is expected to be back in action before December, the trip to Swansea appears to have come too soon for him.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Liverpool has only won two of its last seven away matches in the Premier League, both of which were against Norwich City.

  • Brendan Rodgers will be returning to the Liberty Stadium for the first time since leaving the Swans for Liverpool in the summer.
  • Swansea’s only home win in its last five fixtures was against Wigan; it drew a further three.

  • The two sides have faced each other once so far this season as Brendan Rodgers’ former side traveled to his new employers and came away with a 3-1 in the League Cup.

  • With his current tally of 10 goals, Luis Suarez (pictured) is just one strike behind his overall haul of last season.

  • Liverpool has conceded just the one goal away from home in the Premier League so far this season. Manchester City is the only team with a better record.

  • Matches between Liverpool and Swansea average two goals a game, with 14 scored in their seven meetings.
