The teams come out of Major League Soccer's break for the World Cup with the season's first California Clasico.
Though the league took a break for the world's most important soccer tournament, the matches have resumed as the World Cup enters the knockout stage.
That means the Earthquakes will be without the services of striker Chris Wondolowski and the Galaxy will be missing defender Omar Gonzalez, with both players preparing for the United States' round of 16 game against Belgium. Victor Bernardez will not yet be available for the Earthquakes, despite Honduras' early exit.

During the break, both teams were eliminated in the fifth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Earthquakes lost to the Seattle Sounders in a penalty shootout, while it took extra time for the Galaxy to fall to the Carolina RailHawks for the third straight year.
Though the match will have World Cup absences, Earthquakes defender Clarence Goodson and Galaxy attacker Landon Donovan should be set for Saturday's clash. Both were left out of Jurgen Klinsmann's side and have sought to show the U.S. coach he made a mistake.
