The Timbers are still without a win in 2014, and they'll look to get off the mark against their Cascadia rivals. The Portland Timbers were expected to be among Major League Soccer's best in 2014, but their season hasn't started quite as they'd anticipated.
Through four games the Timbers are without a win, with two draws and two losses. They'll be looking to gain their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon when they host their biggest rivals, the Seattle Sounders.
Seattle has two wins and two losses through four games, and is coming off a tough loss at home to Columbus last weekend, in which Justin Meram scored with the last kick of the match to seal all three points for the Crew.
Both teams will enter the match shorthanded.
For Portland, goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts is suspended, which means Andrew Weber will continue to fill in. Darlington Nagbe and Steve Zakuani both have hamstring injuries and it is unlikely either will play. It's hardly the formula head coach Caleb Porter was looking to follow for a first win.
The Sounders will also be depleted, however. Djimi Traore is suspended while Brad Evans is questionable with a calf injury which kept him out of the USA's 2-2 draw with Mexico on Wednesday night. Clint Dempsey went the full 90 in that match, while DeAndre Yedlin played the final 20 minutes. Both are likely to feature in some capacity against Portland.
