Two teams with 12 combined draws will be on show Saturday as the Timbers travel across the country to take on the Red Bulls.
New York is sitting fifth in the East, with 14 points from 12 games, and could certainly use a fourth win of the season against a Portland team that has struggled to find its form. But the Red Bulls followed up a run of three wins in four games with back-to-back losses to Toronto and Chicago, and come into this game searching for a first win since May 4.
That May 4 win came just one day after Portland's only win of the season, a 3-2 result against D.C. United. Since then, the Timbers have drawn two straight, leaving the team languishing outside the playoff places.
New York has the scoring form of Bradley Wright-Phillips to rely on. The Englishman has become one of the top goal-scoring threats in the league with his nine goals, and Portland's troubles finding the net this season don't bode well against the high-powered New York attack.
