Salt Lake came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over New England, which bemoaned its lax finishing again.A late red and missed penalty provided a spark to Real Salt Lake's 2-1 road win over the New England Revolution.
The Revolution opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Lee Nguyen slipped the ball down the flank and Chris Schuler fluffed his clearance. Kelyn Rowe burst forward with the ball, and pulled it back to the top of the box, where Ryan Guy volleyed home.
Devon Sandoval scored his first career goal to equalize. The Revs failed to clear, and Bobby Shuttleworth dropped Sebastian Velasquez's shot. Sandoval pounced first, poking the ball into the ceiling of the net.
With a minute remaining in regulation time, Salt Lake struck the winner. A Javier Morales corner came to Kyle Beckerman at the top of the box, and the U.S. international struck a sweet one-time volley. Shuttleworth saved, but again couldn't hold it, and Olmes García slotted home.
In stoppage time, after some confusion in the box, RSL defender Carlos Salcedo was whistled for a foul and given his second yellow card. Saer Sene, who has yet to score in 2013, hit a tame penalty that Nick Rimando saved.
