MLS Preview: New England Revolution - Chicago Fire

MLS Preview: New England Revolution - Chicago Fire

Thomas Walsh

Both Eastern Conference teams have been struggling for form, and will look to gain three valuable points at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

In May, the New England Revolution looked like the best team in Major League Soccer. Since then, they’ve been among the worst.

After a five-game winning streak, the Revs (7-7-2) have lost four straight league matches, most recently a 2-1 setback at Real Salt Lake last weekend.

New England will look to turn things around when it hosts the Chicago Fire (2-4-10) on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live). The Fire sit second from bottom in the Eastern Conference, and are coming off a 1-1 tie at Sporting KC last weekend.

Both teams featured in U.S. Open Cup play midweek. The Fire advanced to the semifinal with a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Silverbacks on Wednesday, while New England fell 2-0 to Philadelphia on Tuesday.
