MLS Preview: Montreal Impact - Philadelphia Union

MLS Preview: Montreal Impact - Philadelphia Union

Jim O'Connor

A pair of struggling Eastern Conference sides meet Saturday as Montreal's Stade Saputo makes its 2014 debut.

A pair of young forwards will be looking to score against their old teams on Saturday afternoon, when the Montreal Impact play host to the Philadelphia Union.

Jack McInerney and Andrew Wenger will be the main storyline when the struggling Eastern Conference sides meet for the second time this season, as the strikers were swapped for one another just three weeks ago. Both players notched a goal in their Apr. 12 debuts for the respective new sides, with McInerney tallying for Montreal in a 1-1 draw with Chicago while Wenger struck in the first half of the Union's 2-2 tie with Real Salt Lake.

The youngsters will surely be eager to get on the scoresheet on Saturday, but the bigger picture sees two teams desperate for points. Philadelphia heads into Montreal with just one win from its opening eight matches, but that's still better than what the Impact have accomplished thus far in 2014.

Montreal is one of just four MLS teams still looking for its first win of the season, and with just three points after seven games the team sits tied for dead last in the entire league.

Saturday's match is the first of the season at Stade Saputo, with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m. Eastern.
