Mexico takes a loss, Canada takes a loss, and Group A is completely up for grabs right now. Panama and mighty Martinique are on top, Mexico and Canada at the bottom after the first round of matches.
90' + 5'
THAT'S IT!!! Panama with the WIN!!!
90' + 2'
Everything this half, aside from the random dash forward from Panama, has been on one end of the field. But one of those breaks led to a goal, and Mexico just hasn't been able to break Panama down and find an equalizer.
Five minutes added on, so Mexico will get some of the wasted time back, but certainly not all of it.
Mexico needs to find a goal, just over 3 minutes left in regulation.
Panama wasting time and killing this clock with every chance. Players staying down, cramping, really trying to get out of the rest of this game and take the win.
Big save! Panama survives the header from the corner.
Panama has to get an injured man off the field while Fabian waits to take the corner.
Mexico has a go, it's blocked out for a corner. El Tri needs to make one of these count.
Mexico with a ball forward, but Torres at the back for Panama has been a beast winning balls and made another really good tackle.
Panama, at the moment, is effectively killing this game off right now.
Panama hasn't had a meaningful spell with the ball in a while now, but Mexico hasn't exactly figured out an answer on how to create chances.
Quintero down on the pitch after a hard tackle. Not a good sign for Panama.
Waterman coming off now for Panama. Mexico will be alright with that sub.
Nice move there from Mexico. Ball played through the middle, swung out wide and crossed to the back post. Eventually it went out for a corner, but that's how you open up a team that's sitting deep.
Mexico starting to move the ball around with some pace, and pressing up the pitch, but Panama still looks a real threat on the counter.
Shouts for a foul, for a penalty, from the Mexican faithful. Nothing doing, goes out for a goalkick. Don't think it was a foul, but it was a risky tackle.
Foul called against Panama gives Mexico a break at the back.
Mexico has nobody at the back that can run with Waterman. He's won every footrace so far today. Won another one there, but the angle was too much for him to find the back post.
Another foul against Panama, drawn by Fabian, and now the pressure is mounting on Panama's defense.
The free kick takes a dangerous defelction and goes out for a corner, which Panama only manages to clear for a second one.
Mexico wins a free kick on the edge of the box.
FABIAN!!!! No! He hit the post. His first touch let him down, but Fabian still got a foot to it, only to see the ball drift off the outside of the post after barely a touch from the 'keeper.
Fabian went for the spectacular finish, looking for the bike, but he pushed off to open up the space. Not sure there was a need for him to play it at all.
Mexico has a crack back down at the other end, from about 40 out with a free kick. Seemed speculative all along and sailed over the bar.
On second look, that finish was still really, really nice.
Goal Gabriel Torres
And Panama is back in front!!! Torres... a really nice finish on a cross from Quintero, flicked in at the near post.
Early stages and both teams have already had one chance to get forward. High pace to the game as the second half gets rolling.
The second half is under way.
Mexico pulls level right before the break. It's 1-1 at halftime, and there's probably plenty more drama to come. Stick around for the second half.
45' + 2'
Assist I. Jiménez

Goal M. Fabián
GOAL MEXICO! Just a great ball over the top, Fabian sneaks in behind, takes it off his chest and pokes it home.
45' + 1'
Three minutes of stoppage time.
Now another foul called against Fabian, who just smashed into Panama's goalkeeper while going for a cross.
Fabian getting frustrated, lashes out at a defender.
And now Panama hits the post.... Mexico in desperate need of halftime to get it together. This one should be heavily in Panama's favor by now, but Mexico is still down only one.
Lucky... very lucky for Mexico to not be behind 2-0. Honestly, not sure how Panama didn't score there. Mexico's defending looks really bad right now, and Panama has two shots from point blank and couldn't put either home.
Castro tries to pick out Fabian at the back post, but it once again it hit too far. Mexico really struggling to open up space in Panama's defense.
Gabriel Torres is giving Mexico all sorts of problems. A cross came in there that he just couldn't get on the end of, but it was another good look for Panama.
Panama with another player, Gomez, down on the ground. Not sure how serious that one is, but Panama looks like its already trying to kill this game off.
Panama playing the game now that it was expected to come out playing. Dropping deeper, trying to hit on the break. It's opening up some chances as well.
Mexico with a chance from a set play here, but the ball drifts just over Lugo's head and out for a goal kick.
Mexico in the middle of it's longest sustained attack. Panama still doing a really nice job of closing down the space and not really allowing chances.
A little delay for an injury, but Mexico continues to live dangerously. Panama's attack has been a surprise so far, really causing some problems.
Mexico is finding much space to work with in the final third. Panama doing a really nice job of closing down and breaking up play.
Torres blows this one over the top of goal... another scare for Mexico though. Panama has been very good so far, and this young Mexican team is struggling to keep pace.
Wow.. there's another call going against Mexico. It's just outside the box this time, so no penalty, but Panama will have a real chance.
Mexico's best chance of the early going is a header that is tapped over the bar. It's better from El Tri, finally looking dangerous in the last couple of minutes.
Cries for a second penalty for Panama are waved off. Would have been a harsh one to give.
Marquez Lugo and Fabian try to break forward but the passing is just inches off and kills what looked like a very dangerous break.
Not at all the start Mexico was looking for to this tournament. To Panama's credit, it's not as if Mexico has been the better side in these early stages. The Panamanians have clearly been on top of this game.
Penalty Goal Gabriel Torres
Torres! It's Panama taking a 1-0 lead from the spot. Well taken penalty.
PENALTY!!! Panama wins a penalty, and Mexico is off to a really rocky start.
Mexico gives up a foul in a slightly dangerous position, but the ball in is cleared and the danger is gone.
We're off and running. Panama in the all-white kit, Mexico in the Green with white shorts and red socks.
Just minutes away from the opening kick as the national anthems are played for both sides. We should have a good game on our hands here, and if the first match was anything to judge by, this Gold Cup could be full of drama.
That being said, this Panama team is always a threat. Blas Perez can bring the goals, and the overall athletic talent on the team is hard to match. This isn't a CONCACAF minnow that will come into the match scared to play against Mexico.
El Tri has some questions to answer coming into the Gold Cup. The first choice team has struggled in 2013, winning only once, but this is a different group, and maybe one with a different mentality. Goals have been scarce, but Mexico has more than a few attacking options at its disposal, and the players here will be looking to earn their way into next year's World Cup team.
We had a stunner in the 2013 Gold Cup opener, with Canada taking a loss to Martinique in late and dramatic fashion. Now Group A's two favored teams will face off to see if anybody can keep pace. Mexico, back at the scene of its 2011 final win over the USA, faces off against a Panama side that played in the semifinals that year. Stick around and we'll bring you all the action.
