After setting an MLS record with 36 unbeaten games at home, Houston lost two in a row at BBVA Compass Stadium. The New England Revolution won 2-0 away against the Houston Dynamo.
In a first half that included only one shot on target, the main excitement of the opening stanza came in the form of ejections. Five minutes from half time, Bobby Boswell head-butted Dimitry Imbongo off the ball. Imbongo retaliated by throwing Boswell to the ground. After a brief melee, the referee ejected both players.
Earlier in the half, new recruit Juan Agudelo made his Revolution debut, replacing the injured Ryan Guy (left calf).
Shortly after the break, the Revs broke through. Diego Fagundez drove through the Houston defense, played a one-two with Clyde Simms and clipped the ball past the onrushing Tally Hall.
A Ricardo Clark own goal rounded out the scoring.
A week earlier, Sporting Kansas City ended Houston's home unbeaten run at 36 in all competitions.
